The German YMCA, aka Lancaster Hall, is located in a residential neighborhood, and is a 10 minute walk from Lancaster Gate Underground station (on the Central Line). I took the Piccadilly Line from the airport (which was a fraction of the cost of the well marketed Heathrow Express) taking 70 minutes and necessitating only one train change at Holborn. Some... Good location walking distance to Paddington and Lancaster stations. Variety restaurants and stores with fruits. Clean rooms, helpful staff. I had room with nice street view. Breakfast sufficient. Nice neighborhood

Superbly located just north of Hyde Park. Close to Lancaster Gate tube and with a number of good restaurants near by. We particularly liked Taormina. Simple functional bed room with all the usual facilities. Except shampoo. Breakfast was a scrum fest with all the Germans staying in the hostel, but the choice was great. Wifi everywhere although it did go... More

aFter I had stayed in the hotel last may, I suggested it to a friend teacher of mine for an international exchange of schools because a section of it called the youth wing worked AS a youth hostel ) a bit afraid that it wouldn't be AS good AS the other standard hotel part of the structure. aFter a two-night... I taught a seminar here for a weekend. It was warm and there was no air conditioning, but staff was friendly and helpful. It is a good location and easy to get to. Not far from Hyde Park. Nice shops in the area. Hotel is clean and easy to maneuver.

I returned to this hotel after 5 years. I still think that staying in Lancaster Hall Hotel is a wise choice. For just 90 pounds a night for three persons during the summer vacation, I would mark "excellent" for this hotel's location, cleaniness, breakfast, and "very good" for its service. There's coin-operated laundry next to the hotel, small supermarket and... More

My father and I were traveling together for the first time and his first trip outside the US. When I read the reviews from both business travelers and hosteling travelers and saw the location it seemed too good to be true. Pictures reminded me of hostels when I was traveling in college. We booked a room with two twin beds... More

This is my third visit, and I would come again. Lancaster Hall is a no-frills hotel at a very good price. It is well-located for seeing London, less than 10 minutes walk to Paddington Station and only a few minutes to the tube and bus stops. The rooms are compact but clean, comfortable and generally quiet (a few rooms at... More

This hotel is right down the street from Hyde Park, bus stops and underground railway locations. Customer service was wonderful and a nice European breakfast was included in the price. The rooms are a little small but comfortable enough for the purpose of resting after a long day. Check out is at 10:30 which was difficult since we had an... More
