My daughter and I stayed at the Silkhouse on Friday 29th August. I chose the hotel on the basis of the description on the booking.com website and because of its location as it was within easy distance of the Hackney Empire where we attending a concert. I didn't expect luxury at the price that we paid but I have never... More

Chosen for visit to friends. Danger when surrounding houses were in protest to hotel with mass window flyers. i asked, told because of parking wars? Then found out it wad being used as brothel by locals. my wife went mad so i asked for my money back @ 6pm. i was verbally assaulted and chased out. but the single mum... More

I stayed in a double room for 2 nights. The room we had was spacious and the beds comfortable with clean white cotton linen. The staff were really friendly and helpful. We enjoyed a very nice continental breakfast which was complimentry. In short, I recommend this hotel.

Staff was very accommodating and helpful. 5 minutes away from over ground. Beautiful garden and kitchen with 24 hours facilities.

As a backpacker and solo traveller I have stayed in my fair share of dodgy places, but this takes the cake. The location is shocking, in a very poor area (even for Hackney/East London standards) and the hotel is surrounded by estate housing, and on top of that you can hear police sirens racing down Kenworthy Road every ten minutes.... The Staff were Helpful,Kind and Polite. But the Bad Points were that I had nowhere to Hang my clothes ,nowhere to put wet items to dry,and a window that was open which i could not reach,so it made the room very cold at night and i had to put a coat on top of my bed to keep warm ,but i... More

The hotel shown on the website is nowhere near what the reality is. Got out of the station is the middle of an estate. Very uncomfortable and I have been backpacking for years so I am not easily uncomfortable. The location is simply awful and the creepy building gives shivers on first approach. The entrance doesn't seem secure at all;... More

The Silk House is a tall, late eighteenth century building at the end of a street of little terrace houses. It's quite a distance from Hackney Central, but very well placed for Homerton overland rail station - just two minutes walk, and that will take you into central London. The bad points first: The decor is desperately in need of... More

I chose this 'B&B' as it was convenient to a social event I was attending. I had booked in to a place called 'The Silkhouse' yet this name was nowhere to be found. The building is dingy and tired. Staff were welcoming but old fashioned key to door which you have to use to lock yourself in to the room... More

This place is, quite simply, a dive. Now, I know it's cheap, and that's why I choose it. However, even when accommodation is cheap you expect a certain bare minimum standard. Here's a run down of my stay. Arrived in the reception area, which looked a bit run down and poorly kept, but, as I say, I was looking for... More
