Stopped for drinks and lunch before taking the tour at Buckingham Palace, which is a stone's throw away. The pan fried Croque Monsieur is delicious. Very pleased with our meal, hotel is lovely, as well.

First visit to The Rubens. Nearest tube station to the hotel is Victoria which was heaving with people beyond belief and also a long walk from the tube to above ground. Not one of my preferred tube stations. Arrived early but the hotel had a room ready for us (room 323). The room was awkward shaped, and was decorated in... More

I recently traveled to London with two friends from the United States. We wanted to do a traditional afternoon tea, and we chose The Rubens at the palace based on its reviews. It certainly did not disappoint! Our favorite part was the customer service. The staff could not have been more courteous, friendly, or welcoming. They helped us choose a... More

I last stayed at the Rubens 18 months ago, and thought it would be somewhere nice to take my wife for our wedding anniversary. The hotel lived up to expectations and we were looked after by Rachel from customer services who gave us a complimentary glass of champagne on arrival whilst we waited for our room to be ready. We... This was our second visit to this hotel and it did not disappoint. The rooms are small by U.S. standards but are more then adequate. The location is great with the Mews across the street and Buckingham palace just down the street. Everyone at the hotel was very helpful and we got a lot of good info on where to... More

Great location just minutes walk from Victoria station, helpful and friendly Staffs. They provided all information we need about bus, tube, and places. We arrived early and the reception managed early check-in as per our request. Room although bit small, but very clean and bathroom also has enough space. The Leopard Bar also fabulous. I had an excelent seabass grill.... More

We stayed in 209, great room - a little small, but this is London... (It has a view to the Mews, but we really didn't need it - the curtains were closed most of the time anyway) The Location is excellent, 2 min to Victoria Station (we came by bus, National Express from Stansted Airport) - 2 min to Buckingham... We stayed in this charming hotel on a secret escapes deal and were not disappointed. Our room was beautiful and although not too spacious it was comfortable. There is much of a view on the internal looking rooms but the dwelling was charmingly decorated and had all we needed for ur busy sojourn to he city. The breakfast and service... More

All hotels in London are expensive and the rooms small by US standards, so I figure it's worth paying a little more to experience a really good hotel with an attentive staff and a darned good breakfast that's just a two minute walk from Buckingham Palace and not a whole lot longer to Victoria Station. So each time we visit... More

Staying in Westminster

Neighborhood Profile
Westminster
If you only had an afternoon to experience London on a grand scale, Westminster would be a wise place to start. The ornate Houses of Parliament and Westminster Abbey sit adjacent at a corner of Parliament Square, and a short stroll along The Mall leads to Buckingham Palace. Trafalgar Square and Nelson's Column are just up the road as well. As captivating as the architecture is, the wonders of Mother Nature are highlights of the area too. St James's Park (arguably London's loveliest), the expansive Green Park, and pedestrian friendly tree lined paths along the river showcase the exquisite manicure provided by English gardeners. Just beyond the landmarks and the gorgeous outdoor spaces, quiet residential squares and age old local pubs offer a more subdued take on this global seat of power in the heart of London.
