We had been lucky to receive a gift of an afternoon tea. We decided to use this to celebrate our silver wedding anniversary. Having looked at many options, we decided to combine it with a stay at The Rubens Palace Hotel in London and explore Buckingham Palace. We were both very glad we did. We made a request for the... My husband and I have just spent 4 nights at The Ruebens and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. This was the last stop before returning to Australia after a 3 week trip to Europe and it couldn't have been a more perfect way to finish our holiday. Staying here was what I imagine would be like staying in a stately English... More

My wife and I went to London for 48 hours and we usually pick a well rated high end hotel for a night. The Rubens is one of the renowned Red Carnation Hotels and having stayed in several including 41, Chesterfield, Montague we thought the Rubens would be a good bet. Reviews were also promising. It is a great hotel... More

We stayed at the Rubens for 6 nights in August. We had a wonderful time. The hotel staff were courteous, helpful and very knowledgeable. The hotel is very kid friendly with staff making extra effort to know our kids and show them activities. Location of the hotel is pefect - walking distance to Buckingham Palance, St James Park, Victoria Station... More

We are regular guests at the Rubens, but we would not keep going back if it did not consistently deliver. The location is a great advantage, just a few minutes from Victoria Station, and so very convenient for all forms of road and rail transport, plus easily walk-able to the heart of the West End through St James's Park. This... More

Express lunch. Just what we needed before visiting the Palace, we had40 minutes and we were on time. Best tomato soup I have ever had, bet it would have been lovely cold. Good sandwiches. Not cheap but tasty and relaxing.

I visited the Rubens over the New Year's holiday during my first stay in London. The hotel is in a great location with Buckingham Palace right around the corner in addition to Victoria station. It is also a 10-15 minute walk to some of London's iconic attractions in Hyde Park and Piccadilly Circus. While on the more expensive side, the... More

We were staying in London for one night and my partner found a good deal for this hotel. It looks lovely, majestic and very British - it would make a great location for tourists, especially being around the corner from the Queen. After looking at the website and checking out the photographs, we were quite disappointed with our room -... More

My husband and I have just returned home from our stay at the Rubens. Wow loved every minute. All the staff were amazing and couldn't do enough for us.. Our room was a 'themed' room which was immaculate. We were greeted warmly by the staff and the deputy manager who gave us complimentary champagne. The food was delicious and plenty... More

Staying in Westminster

Neighborhood Profile
Westminster
If you only had an afternoon to experience London on a grand scale, Westminster would be a wise place to start. The ornate Houses of Parliament and Westminster Abbey sit adjacent at a corner of Parliament Square, and a short stroll along The Mall leads to Buckingham Palace. Trafalgar Square and Nelson's Column are just up the road as well. As captivating as the architecture is, the wonders of Mother Nature are highlights of the area too. St James's Park (arguably London's loveliest), the expansive Green Park, and pedestrian friendly tree lined paths along the river showcase the exquisite manicure provided by English gardeners. Just beyond the landmarks and the gorgeous outdoor spaces, quiet residential squares and age old local pubs offer a more subdued take on this global seat of power in the heart of London.
