This hotel is perfectly situated in Kensington. It is a 5 minute walk to the tube, 15-20 minute walk to the Victoria and Albert Museum. 10 min walk to Hyde Park. The area is safe comfortable with a variety of casual to elegant eateries. The hotel it's self is quite charming. They have a restaurant which is quite delicious and... More

We stayed at the Rydges last year when we stayed here in London. We are staying at another hotel this year BUT walk back to Rydges most nights after tea for a few drinks. My question is .. Why is it that when Katarina is not working the bar is always very empty ? I think the answer to my... More

We stayed at Rydges for 2 nights. Staff was accommodating of our early check-in and slightly late check out. The location is great, right near Glouchester Rd tube stop and near Kensington park. Lots off good restaurants in the neighborhood. Rooms were small but typical of London style and the bed was very comfortable. Bathroom very nice with great water... More

We stayed at Rydges for well over a week. It was for our family with a small child a perfect blend of location, amenities, cleanliness and decor, and attentiveness/kindness. The rooms are small, which is expected for this price point within zones 1-2 on the Tube. But you're within a very easy walk of Kensington Palace and the Diana Memorial... More

We stayed at the tail end of a three month trip and chose the hotel because of the location. In our opinion, Kensington is perfect. Great bus routes close by, peaceful streets, a Waitrose a few steps away, KP, V&A, Natural History Museum and some great restaurants and pubs around. During our stay we were in a comfortable room and... More

This hotel is conveniently situated for Tube or bus. Restaurants abound in the area. Our compact Queen room was clean and comfortable with a decent size bathroom. We were offered a King room for £10 more per night but it did not appear to be any bigger so we stayed with our Queen room. We stayed 5 nights and on... More

I came here expecting a good time seeing that there were a lot of good reviews for this hotel but when I entered, the room was tiny and the the knobs and other things in the toliet is broken. At first I thought it is somewhat acceptable seeing that it's a reasonably priced hotel at a nice area but NO.... More

Stayed at Rydges in July 2015. Great location for exploring London, very close to Gloucester Road Tube Station. Last stayed here in 2008 and renovations are obvious. Restaurant was good with friendly staff. There are a number of good restaurants in the area if you want to explore other options. Supermarket and laundromat are within 5 - 10 minutes walk... More

Staying in South Kensington

Neighborhood Profile
South Kensington
With its ivied mews, row upon row of Poppins-esque white washed mansions, and placid garden squares, it's easy to see the charms of South Kensington. And with superb access to Hyde Park, Holland Park and Kensington Gardens, as well as the largely child-friendly and mostly free Museum Quarter (not to mention more major attractions like Royal Albert Hall) such charms are easy to make the most of. As welcoming and cosmopolitan as it is reserved and residential, South Kensington is always a hit with visitors.
