I was here for a week on business. This is a great location and very central, good places to eat nearby. I was in one of the bigger rooms (King superior?) and it was fine in terms of size and was nice room. I suspect a standard room would be pretty small, but can't say for sure. There is some... More

The fact that you can get the tube from Heathrow and be at this hotel in about 35 minutes total traveling time - no fuss - is a real selling point. Being situated about 80m from Gloucester Rd station means easy access to everywhere in London. Quite a nice London streetscape with a few restaurants and a pub close by... More

The perfect place for a visit to London. We used this place as a base for trips to Liverpool, Manchester, even Paris and Vienna. Literally 100metres from Gloucester Road Station on the Piccadilly Line and a pleasant 10 minute walk to the Kensington High Street buses this hotel is perfectly located in a great part of London just outside the... I recently stayed here for a business trip, on websites this hotel looks amazing but dont be fooled. We only booked a standard room as we didnt intend on spending too much time in the room, on arrival we noticed a horrible smell downstairs it didnt go away the whole time we were there. The bed could literally fold into... More

We stayed here to go to the Royal Albert Hall, and it was the perfect location, only 10-15 mins walk away. It's also close to the tube and there's a cheap(ish) QPark across Hyde park at Queensway. The hotel was in good condition, with a cosy late bar, airy reception, helpful staff. Our room was upgraded and though it was... More

I was a guest on a business trip at this hotel for a single night recently. As a regular visitor to Kensington and cognizant of the potential for disrupted sleep from traffic in Gloucester Road, I requested, many weeks in advance, a queen room facing the rear of the hotel and on an upper floor. Disappointingly, this was not honoured... More

Booked a room on Hotwire and wound up with one which was described as suitable for people without luggage! They weren't kidding. That said, the staff was very helpful and I upgraded to a lower floor, a/k/a basement for a more regularly sized room for just 5GBPs a night - deal. While in the basement, it actually had light and... More

Recently refurbished hotel full of thoughtful staff, just waiting to help.Within sight of Gloucester tube station,it's positioning opens up the whole of Londons attractions, but we used it as it's just a ten minute walk from the Royal Albert hall.Although surrounded by pubs and eateries ,we decided on the Hotel restaurant ,because of its wide choice of Gluten free meals,so for everything... I don't normally have the opportunity to review hotels in central London. When I have reason to stay over in town, I usually stay at my club, where I know I will get reliable service, a warm welcome and - most importantly - a good night's sleep, all at reasonable rates. However, on this occasion the club's bedrooms were full,... More

Staying in South Kensington

Neighborhood Profile
South Kensington
With its ivied mews, row upon row of Poppins-esque white washed mansions, and placid garden squares, it's easy to see the charms of South Kensington. And with superb access to Hyde Park, Holland Park and Kensington Gardens, as well as the largely child-friendly and mostly free Museum Quarter (not to mention more major attractions like Royal Albert Hall) such charms are easy to make the most of. As welcoming and cosmopolitan as it is reserved and residential, South Kensington is always a hit with visitors.
