The building is old and our room was very very tired. Dirty walls, carpet, floors and corners, a tiny worn out bathroom, and the room next door was being renovated and apparently used as a gathering place for the construction workers and others with their music and TV blaring, loud partying voices, while they supposedly worked on the unit. We... More

I was visiting London on a solo trip. I expected a small room, having traveled through Europe a number of times previously. but this room (216) was little more than a closet. The front desk staff were helpful but begrudgingly so. No a/c . A small section of the window opened for some fresh air. No safe for valuables. The... More

Positives : the check in staff were lovely and helpful. Fantastic location for Hyde Park. Downsides: the room was tired, tatty and sooooo hot I had trouble breathing! Our room over looked the back so was a bit dubious about leaving our windows open as easy assessable across the flat roof. Very noisy from surrounding bars . Quite a maze... More

It is an old building, situated at a very nice corner so the view from the balcony was very picturesque. Because it is an old building, there were no proper vents so I was choking in high humidity after a long hot shower. But that was bearable. If you ignore the dirty corners and uneven floorboards and keeping in mind... More

Overall the hotel is in a great location right off of Hyde Park and a block from two Underground stations. The rooms are typical for a converted hotel in London - small, but they were clean and neat. We were happy with the physical accommodations and the breakfast. But the Internet access was terrible. The signal was weak and would... More

Hotel is in an excellent location for getting around London - walking and underground. Facilities are quite good and it is in a quiet location. Our concern was that reception staff photocopied our passports without our initial kniowledge or any approval to do so. When challenged, staff refused to return the photocopy stating English law required them to photocopy the... More

Nice Continental Breakfast. The bedroom with Bathroom served their purpose as sleeping accommodation, but being in the basement were a little pokey (small) and awkward to enter due to the room layout. I was awoken most mornings by a particular dining room staff member who stamped across the dining room floor which was directly above my single room.Overall nice friendly... More

I was initially offered room 205, it was like sitting inside an ashtray. The room reeked of stale nicotine. I just couldn't stand it so asked for a replacement. The only alternative was room 18 in the basement. It was truly dreadful. Very small, dark, with an alleyway immediately outside the window (I mean inches) and a small window so... More

Stayed there for a week. Like what everyone said, the room is indeed quite small. We asked for a baby cot and with out big luggages, there are hardly any space to walk. However, the hotel provides quite a lot of storage. Thus after putting away our stuff, we get to see more of the floor. We were given a... More

We stayed for one night..booked a few weeks (6) in advance and only paid £139. For this location the price was unbelievable. Bars and restaurants nearby are great. Tubes on the doorstep. Only £17 taxi home from soho. Hotel room was small but ok. Bathroom was very shabby, hardly any water coming from the shower, towels were old and small.... More

Staying in Notting Hill

Neighborhood Profile
Notting Hill
As West London's friskiest corner, Notting Hill more than manages to retain plenty of the same appeal that's brought the affluent area so much worldwide attention. In this attractive cobblestoned neighborhood, a delectable variety of eateries, independent shops, galleries and street vendors offer a delightful window into how to live the good life in London, with each presenting visitors with an experience that's a little more idiosyncratic and endearing than the last. Travelers looking to forage for antiques should be sure to visit the Portobello Road Market on Saturdays, the largest antiques market in the United Kingdom.
