This a great value in our opinion. There were 3 of us so we had 3 beds. The bathroom was ok but really needs some updating (hole in the linoleum) and the avocado green toilet and bathtub were...well...wasn't pretty was definitely functional! The shower worked great , it was roomy and worked just fine. There is hardly any room to... More

I have just returned from a trip to London and once again I stayed in the Columbia. My fourth time this year. i love the Hotel. Great location and I love the atmosphere of this Victorian building. Friendly staff. I really would struggle to find something to complain about. I will continue to stay there when i visit London and... More

This hotel should primeraly be chosen due to the great location. The rooms end interiør is quite old and used. The wireless service in the lobby does only work 1 out of 3 times. The room contanied besides the beds some not very pratical closets. The breakfast is acceptable but the service somewhat inregular.

Close to Hyde park and a short walk to the subway, shawarma, pubs and resteraunts. Rental bikes next to hotel which is a great way to see the park and or travel around locally. Great service and helpful staff. Rooms and beds are the true reason for the 3 star beds are uncomfortable and rooms are small. This is a... More

We have returned to this horel for the third time. Not because of the standard. The beds squeaks, the rooms havent been redecorated for years, and there is no airconditioning. But it's next to Hyde Park/Kensington gardens, the ladies in the breakfast room are so charming and nice, the rest of the personell service minded, and the price affordable. A... More

Situated on the Bayswater Road at the Lancaster Gate entrance to Hyde Park, the Columbia is a large family run hotel about 5 minutes drive from London's world famous Oxford Street, and London's theatre land. The Columbia is reasonably priced and is suitable for all the sights of London, located close to two underground stations. I've stayed at this hotel... More

1 of 5 stars Reviewed July 26, 2014

We stayed for two weeks during July 2014. The hotel is not a good value in terms of amenities, when compared to other nearby hotels. The free continental breakfast was not worth it. The room was outdated, shabby and dirty, as well as airless on hot days. The only nice thing I can say about this hotel is that the... More

The location is great - Close to several stations, opposite Hyde Park with plenty of eating places close by so don't have to walk to far after a busy day in London. Reception rooms are lovely and staff very friendly. Rooms are a bit dated (as are many in London) but they are clean with all amenities, only trouble was... More

See above. OK, it's far from perfect, the rooms are dated, BUT they are clean, the linens are clean, the bathroom etc. is clean. We were in 320, a good size room for two, the extremely creaky floor was a laugh, but possibly annoyed the adjoining rooms. Things like this can be sorted fairly easily. As said, a good location,... I will start with the positive: The hotel is in a great location. As other reviewers have stated, it has easy access to the underground via the Lancaster Gate station. It's also convenient to Paddington Station if you come in via the Heathrow Express. The staff was polite and helpful. Breakfast was good. The beds were comfortable and the linens... More
