Large high-rise hotel near Glouster Rd and Earl's Court tube stops (blue line from Heathrow) on Cromwell Rd. 15 minute walk to Harrod's on the same street. Grocer across the street, and a few Italian restaurants within a 5 minute walk. Lobby is large. My room was exceptionally large with a king bed and a sofa.; flat screen large TV,... More

Lucky enough to stay in an executive room for 3 nights during the London Olympics. Room was excellent, with two double beds and a sitting area. Excellent breakfast and service. Great location. Close to underground station, Hyde Park, Science Museum, Natural History Museum and V&A museum. All in all, very good indeed. But not cheap !!!!

This hotel has 2 sides to it for me. On one side the hotel rooms are mostly pokey and average. Yet the bar and restaurant areas are very atmospheric and cosy. Being a Marriot Gold card holder in the last few times I have stayed here they have not been able to upgrade me to a larger room, and I... More

I arrived at 11:30 for a prepaid reservation. The front desk told me the only room they had available was on the ground floor (avoid this as the window is the size of a postage stamp and it looks at a wall) AND those rooms were scheduled for renovation the following day so I would have to move to another... We found this hotel through Priceline. It is on Cromwell road in Kensigton, a fairly nice location just West of downtown London, when it does not rain. Close to two Tube stations (Earl's Court and Gloucester road) its glass facade looks impressive. The building looks like it was restored from an older hotel or hotels. The room was small, but... We were only here for one night but the service and quality of room were both very good. We arrived about an hour earlier than the normal check-in time but our room was ready so no problem. Nice sized room on the 8th Floor Very clean and well furnished, the air con was a little noisier than expected but soon... More

In London for a weekend function and stayed at the Marriott Hotel Kensington which is only about ten minutes from the centre of London via the Picadilly Line. From the first meeting with the receptionist on arrival I found the staff exceptional. We had a late arrival and were offered bar food and it was served promptly. The bed room was spacious with... We ended up at this hotel after a Theatre company we had booked with made a mistake with our booking. We usually stay more central to Oxford Street/Mayfair etc. I was disappointed to learn of the mistake and wasn't really looking forward to staying at the Marriott if Im honest but it was only one night so I went with... I have just returned from a one night stay in this hotel. First off the location is ideal, close to Gloucester road tube which gives good access to most areas of london. There are good local amenities such as a sainsburys across the road, and a number of small shops. (I've eaten in the local italian, and chose not to... More

Staying in South Kensington

Neighborhood Profile
South Kensington
With its ivied mews, row upon row of Poppins-esque white washed mansions, and placid garden squares, it's easy to see the charms of South Kensington. And with superb access to Hyde Park, Holland Park and Kensington Gardens, as well as the largely child-friendly and mostly free Museum Quarter (not to mention more major attractions like Royal Albert Hall) such charms are easy to make the most of. As welcoming and cosmopolitan as it is reserved and residential, South Kensington is always a hit with visitors.
