The front of this Marriott is impressive and the reception is grand too but once upstairs the carpets look very old and as our room Carole was very dated yellow stripes if seemed the money was all spent on first impressions. Very expensive too. Not worth the money I'm afraid.

Enjoyed walks from hotel to museums, Hyde Park and Harrods. Bed was very comfortable. Food at the hotel bar was good and small Starbucks in lobby was convenient. Easy access to tube at Gloucester stop.

I've stayed here many times over the last five years (both for business and pleasure) and I am always impressed with the young, friendly, professional staff. I do find the hotel itself a bit dated for a Marriott property; however, the Kensington location and the attentive staff, are major plusses that keep me coming back.

Great location for visiting Harrods and the museums. One of the best welcomes ever, staff genuinely interested in you and totally professional. Rooms are really good, comfort, style, breakfast is fab and the chef really helpful. Only downside is slight rumble of the underground (expected, as near a station!) and a weird hum from a generator when trying to sleep,... More

We picked this because of the location and room size and were not disappointed. It is near Gloucester Road tube station and whilst it seems a bit of a walk away, we actually timed it and it is only five minutes, so no distance at all. Room a good size with armchair and foots stall, which is impressive for London.... More

Spent a short 2 days there. I say short because we didn't want to go. From check in to check out, nothing but friendly service. Upgraded room was big and light. A little warn, I prefer a more modern walk in shower but my wife enjoyed the bath. Some simple light changes to the new LEDs would improve the ambiance... More

Stayed one night. I booked a standard room through Expedia, though should have booked it via Marriott's website as it was the same price. Even though I'm a Marriott Rewards Platinum member ended up in a basic small room. Rooms and bathrooms are pretty small. It's an old hotel so all plugs are the old 3 round pins, so you... More

This is an excellent hotel. Our bedroom was spacious and well maintained. Staff throughout the hotel were polite and friendly. The food we had in the bar was good, plentiful and speedily produced. We would recommend this hotel to our friends.

Staying in South Kensington

Neighborhood Profile
South Kensington
With its ivied mews, row upon row of Poppins-esque white washed mansions, and placid garden squares, it's easy to see the charms of South Kensington. And with superb access to Hyde Park, Holland Park and Kensington Gardens, as well as the largely child-friendly and mostly free Museum Quarter (not to mention more major attractions like Royal Albert Hall) such charms are easy to make the most of. As welcoming and cosmopolitan as it is reserved and residential, South Kensington is always a hit with visitors.
