I stayed here with my friend in a privilege room over the weekend. The room had all amenities we could ask for plenty of space and comfortable. The decor was a little dated but still fine there are some rooms more recently refurbished that i noticed which looked lovely. Convenient for visiting the south bank and Tate modern and we... More

A party of 4 stayed at The Mercure for one night. we travelled on the Saturday and returned home on the Sunday and were looking for a little luxury as a treat. This hotel did not disappoint. We were very comfortable in our standard double and had everything that we needed....a well stocked hospitality tray, iron and ironong board, safe... More

I stayed here whilst in London on a mini break and I was pretty disappointed. We upgraded to a Superior Priviledge Room and it was a waste of money as you are literally paying for a fancy coffee machine and a bathrobe. The room was quite big but there wasn't adequate storage for someone staying more than 2 nights. The... More

Nothing really exciting about this hotel. We were in a privilege room which I think meant we got a coffee machine and bigger shampoo bottles. The fridge said free drinks and then it was empty with just a price list inside, so maybe it was an old sign. The carpet looked like someone had burnt it in several places. But... More

After staying at other Mercure hotels in Ginza, Gangnam and Sydney i thought this would be a decent place. I will admit the staff were truly great and the lobby was well presented but unfortunately that's where it's stopped. The breakfast was overpriced and bland, my room had issues with the shower, the drainage, air conditioning and lighting. The room... More

I needed a central London hotel at short notice and the Mercure did not disappoint. I was able to check in early at around 11:30 and drop off my stuff. Returning in the evening, we were able to enjoy a complimentary drink at the hotel bar. The room was a reasonable size for London and had everything that I needed... More

Excellent staff! Very helpful when we need to leave our bags there before checking in and after checking out. small but clean room, big tv, nice bathroom. We didn't eat there but the bar was good. GREAT location for everything. If you want Borough market which I also recommend going to, then get up early and got first thing (9am)... More

I have stayed at this hotel on more than 30 occasions and would highly recommend it. The food is very good and the staff and service is exceptional. There is a 10 minute walk to the tube and the Globe, Tate modern are very close by. There is some traffic noise from the road, but in central London it is... More

This hotel is very dated and in need of an update. Staff were friendly but this didn't make up for the tired decor and inefficient noisy aircon. We tried the restaurant on our first night and found the menu overpriced for the quality of food. We ordered the traditional fish and chips but unfortunately the chips were not cooked through.... Staying in Southwark

Neighborhood Profile
Southwark
Even before the arrival of the instantly iconic Shard, the riverside scene in Southwark had moved well beyond any up-and-coming phase of development. For quite some time, locals and out-of-towners alike have loved browsing the boutiques of Bermondsey High Street, foraging through the bounteous stalls at centuries old foodie haven Borough Market, and flocking to the banks of the Thames to enjoy some of Britain's biggest attractions such as Tate Modern and Shakespeare's Globe. Despite Southwark's many popular draws, instant calm can be achieved easily by turning down almost any side street. For more urban buzz, a quick stroll across famed bridges like the pedestrianized Millennium Bridge or the ever photogenic Tower Bridge yields access to the very core of Central London. And with London Bridge Station as this neighborhood's main transportation hub, getting across town (or to anywhere in England for that matter) is a relative breeze.
