This was a very big surprise to me; this was excellent value for money in the centre of London, paying £42 for the night in a single room. Always nice to get an upgrade; but this was more than welcome. The room was very clean if a little dated in decor. The bed was comfortable and the linen clean and... More

Situated close to the pubs and restaurants of the Bayswater road in a very quiet residential location this once very grand house is now a slightly tired budget hotel. The rooms are small and very basic and be warned - there are over sixty steps to the fourth floor, no lifts and if you are in room 39 you have... More

The hotel is basic I stayed a couple of weeks ago for one night with my niece. Our room was at the top of the house and there are no lifts so be prepared to climb stairs. The room itself was basic, we had 3 single beds in our room, they were clean but not the comfiest in the world.... More

The good points were - cheap, clean and location. The downside - Our twin room was tiny, two 'portly' people would have difficulty moving around. A very very high step to the bathroom was not a problem for us but would be impossible for anyone with a physical infirmity. Poor service in the eating area. It is a place for... More

The Lords Hotel is more a hostel than a hotel and is very basic. The room was spartian but clean and served it's purpose as such (If you are a light sleeper you might however have a problem). The location is it's greatest value but I would not recommend Lords Hotel except for young people in their early 20's.

This hotel is well situated and cheap but sadly that's where the good news ends. The room was tiny and cramped and the shower/toilet pod was even worse. We stayed one night but barely got any sleep due to the noisy neighbours and the paper thin walls. The comings and goings from the room next door went on all night.... More

Staying in Notting Hill

Neighborhood Profile
Notting Hill
As West London's friskiest corner, Notting Hill more than manages to retain plenty of the same appeal that's brought the affluent area so much worldwide attention. In this attractive cobblestoned neighborhood, a delectable variety of eateries, independent shops, galleries and street vendors offer a delightful window into how to live the good life in London, with each presenting visitors with an experience that's a little more idiosyncratic and endearing than the last. Travelers looking to forage for antiques should be sure to visit the Portobello Road Market on Saturdays, the largest antiques market in the United Kingdom.
