There are a few basic requirements of a bedroom in a four star hotel. a. Double glazing b. A proper double bed (wider than 4' 6") c. Tea and coffee making facilities. d. Constant hot water. Unfortunately, our room at the Gore had NONE of these things, so don't believe the 'luxury boutique' hype. Yes, the staff are very friendly... More

Special weekend at The Gore!!! Excellent quality at an excellent price. Located to the rear of The Albert Hall this unique hotel steeped in history was a wonderful experience for my family. It was such a change to stay in a hotel with character rather than in an enormous concrete box without any character at all!! Superb!

The location was a great surprise, I never realised what a fabulous spot this was until I went walking. The room had a view and the bed was just heaven I slept so well which such a rarity when you travel.

Excellent location in Kensington a half a block from the Gardens/ Hyde Park. Able to walk to the Gloucester tube station, 1/2 mile from High St Kensington, .8 miles to the heart of Knightsbridge, Royal Albert Hall around the corner and great collection of shops and places to eat on Gloucester Rd. The location allows for stops back at hotel... More

Overall a fab location and a lovely stay. The breakfast was a let down. However, it did not deter from our stay. My son and I had a wonderful time. Very good with children. The concierge is especially friendly.

Big, brown stain on the carpet. Room windows overlooked other room windows. Breakfast poor. Staff poor. Bill wrong on checking out. I had to prove that the room information said that tea and coffee in the lounge was complimentary.

We have come to the Gore for more than 10 years and used it as our base in London. It has gone through changes during these years, some we regret, some to the better. But its overall charm is still intact. And the location can't be beat. The three concierges remember us every time we arrive and our children are... More

Had a lovely one-night stay here recently. It's so convenient for the Royal Albert Hall. Hotel staff were very helpful and friendly. The room was immaculate and very comfortable. I ate in the restaurant for dinner - it was extremely quiet but the food was excellent and service was great. Afterwards, I had a drink in the bar - it... More

We stayed here after a concert at the Albert Hall. It is a perfect location being only a few minutes walk away. We ate at a great pub just round the corner and it seemed that you couldn't rally go wrong around that area. Rooms were comfortable and interesting. The bar was a great venue for drinks after we got... More

The hotel was in an excellent location for what we needed-the Albert Hall. Staff in reception and at breakfast were lovely. Good service and they all looked really smart. Our room, a classic was small but again very good. Everything clean and crisp, just right for one nights stay. We had seen in the hotel book that the bar stayed... More

Staying in South Kensington

Neighborhood Profile
South Kensington
With its ivied mews, row upon row of Poppins-esque white washed mansions, and placid garden squares, it's easy to see the charms of South Kensington. And with superb access to Hyde Park, Holland Park and Kensington Gardens, as well as the largely child-friendly and mostly free Museum Quarter (not to mention more major attractions like Royal Albert Hall) such charms are easy to make the most of. As welcoming and cosmopolitan as it is reserved and residential, South Kensington is always a hit with visitors.
