We've stayed at the Strand Palace many times when visiting relatives or just taking a break. It's always being updated as it is an older hotel - no room air conditioners! (They provided a fan, which we used on July 1 when the temp soared to 35/94 deg.) The lobby and food areas do have a/c. The staff are friendly... More

I have chosen this hotel because it was our conference venue. What makes this hotel worthy of coming to it back, very good location and friendliness of the personnel. When you leave the hotel you will see the top of Nelson column. Trafalgar square is 5 minutes away on foot. There you may go to the National Gallery. To the... More

Was on a course in Kingsway so booked this hotel as just around the corner. Really pleased I did just 5 mins walk to Covent Garden / 10 mins Waterloo / 10 mins Trafalgar Square excellent location. Good pubs minutes away / Good Restaurant in hotel and not too noisy.

We went for a weekend away to watch a show in London and do some tourist stuff, the hotel has a fantastic location, walking distance to lots of sites and theatres, the staff were friendly and breakfast was a buffet selection lots of choice! The rooms are a bit small but you have to expect that with a large hotel... More

Probably the best hotel in town in the 60's but thats years ago. Still a very good location for Covent Garden. the big problem for me was that there is not AC in the rooms, you need to open the windows towards the noisy Strand. Also, the breakfast offered some real fatty british food that were just to much for... More

Although excellently placed in the heart of London, this is a disappointing hotel in several respects. For the large amount of money paid I would not expect a small room, poorly and cheaply furnished and even without air conditioning. Looking forward to breakfast, I was left waiting to be shown to a table for nearly 10 minutes; once there, I... More

Excellent location right in the west end of London in the middle of theatre land. Good value for money. I come back year after year. Single room is ample for my requirements and is very clean and comfortable.

I have stayed at the strand place a number of times over the years and it has a great location near covent garden. They don't appear to recognise return customers. Our room (551) was the other side of hotel and quite small, but as we only used it as a base it was OK. I find london hotels are getting... More

Excellent stay as always. Beautiful rooms (European style small), excellent service and that something extra to make your stay enjoyable. The "Carvery" is lovely, except no roast lamb, of all things. Transport to Heathrow arranged by the hotel and a spoiled, carefree visit.

Stayed in this hotel for 1 night in a executive double room as a treat for my girlfriend and I. Arrived before the room was ready and they gave us a voucher for a free soft drink or tea and coffee. Staff are so friendly and always have a smile for you. Got our key and went to our room... More

Covent Garden
Whether you're headed here to check out the multitude of shops, theaters, cafes, pubs, and restaurants, or simply to be among the multitude of people who pass through this pretty part of town, you'll love soaking up the festive and historic atmosphere in and around Covent Garden. Even if you don't have tickets to the opera or a show at one of the many famous theaters here, don't be surprised if find yourself captivated by some impromptu act of a street performer wowing the crowds in Covent Garden's Piazza. If you do have tickets, you'll be pleased to note that many of the local eateries accommodate theatergoers with prix fixe menus, early dinners, and later than usual opening hours.
