I always stay at the Strand. I like its position in London. I find the rooms clean and comfortable. Some single rooms are small. It has gone from a three star to four star since I have been going there. I hope they don't price there self's out of my price range!

Traveled with my teenage daughter to London last week and wanted a safe and fairly local base so we could explore the city with ease. So glad I chose the Strand, it was close and/or within walking distance to the theater district, Trafalgar Square, Buckingham Palace, St. Paul's Cathedral, National Gallery, National Portrait Gallery and a short bus ride to... I checked in before the 2pm check in time, but was not charged the surcharge ( £20 )for doing so. I was delighted to receive an upgrade from standard room to Executive King The room was clean & well presented.. But apart from being lager than the standard and a few extra odds and bobs( face flannels, slippers & robe... More

This hotel has tiny rooms - we could barely fit our 2 suitcases in - but its location is great. It's near transport, Covent garden markets and restaurants and down the road from Buckingham. Concierge is helpful too. Skip the breakfast and go to a nearby cafe instead where you'll most likely get better food and service.

We stayed here for 2 nights and chose the hotel mainly due to its wonderful location. We stayed in a standard double room on the 5th floor which was clean, comfortable and cosy. The only gripe was that the window doesn't open and there is no air conditioning. Breakfast was very nice. We also are in the Indian restaurant (Daawat)... More

For a high placed hotel, this visit was a disappointment. The reception area created an impression of a high end hotel. However, the room was a disappointment, basic by any standard. I was expecting to find a room thermostat to regulate the room temperature because the room was hot and stuffy. but was unable to find one. I approached a... More

At the time of booking this hotel the tube strike was impending and we had to find a more central hotel to the one we had booked. If you book this through their own website it is cheaper than booking.com or other hotel sites. The room, standard but quite small was clean and the bed was quite comfortable. The staff... More

We've been to the Strand Palace for the 10th time this summer and it's still great. The location is perfect, the rooms have been nicely refurbished and are very clean. The bedding was good quality. We were on the 7th floor onto the Strand, still it was extremely quiet. The staff were very friendly on the whole. We recommend this... More

Staying in Covent Garden

Neighborhood Profile
Covent Garden
Whether you're headed here to check out the multitude of shops, theaters, cafes, pubs, and restaurants, or simply to be among the multitude of people who pass through this pretty part of town, you'll love soaking up the festive and historic atmosphere in and around Covent Garden. Even if you don't have tickets to the opera or a show at one of the many famous theaters here, don't be surprised if find yourself captivated by some impromptu act of a street performer wowing the crowds in Covent Garden's Piazza. If you do have tickets, you'll be pleased to note that many of the local eateries accommodate theatergoers with prix fixe menus, early dinners, and later than usual opening hours.
