Thoroughly enjoyed my stay at The Academy during my first visit to London! Excellent location: very walkable to the Tube, museums, and libraries I was visiting. Arrived Heathrow early Thursday morning and made my way through cold rain to deposit my luggage ahead of check-in. Hotel Staff were all friendly and helpful throughout stay: no request too big or small... More

Booked family room which was very comfortable & cosy for a nights stay over. Very comfortable beds too. Bathroom and communal area very tired but I hear they are doing light refurbishment in the new year to address this. Did not eat there so no comment. We will be back to stay again

Unfortunately we did not get the chance to stay at the academy hotel however we did have afternoon tea purchased through travelzoo for £25. We had a close shave as quite clearly it said on the voucher to ring ahead to book a slot, clumsily we did not, and we were leaving London the next day. Fortunately for us due... More

The has to be the smallest room I have ever had in a hotel. There was more floor space in the bathroom. I wouldn't mind so much but the price was very high indeed. Mediocre service and facilities - you can do much better than this in London.

Dear honzad88 Thank you for your review of The Academy Hotel. It is disappointing that your stay was less than satisfactory and most regrettable that we were not able to resolve this matter whilst you were our guest. As a period property, with our restored townhouses dating back to the 18th century, our accommodation varies in size. We hope to... More

this hotel is in a great location and within easy walking distance of a number of tube and rail stations. Very well presented, boutique style hotel. The welcome was warm and friendly, the room was modern and nicely decorated. All areas were extremely clean, and the bed was very comfortable. The breakfast selection was every good, the freshly cooked English... More

Hotel in need of refurbishment, some staff accommodating and smiling and other generally indifferent. Central location, small room, not very clean, very small bathroom with broken sink. The breakfast was decent but not what one should expect for the price and the category. In general this hotel tries unsuccesfully to be something more than it really is. Therefore not good... More

This hotel is not quite the boutique hotel it professes to be but was comfortable for 6 nights stay. Initially there was something wrong with the room each day. A light bulb was not working when we first arrived. On a positive note the staff were very helpful. They were friendly, prompt with any requests. It is so close &... More

This choice of hotel in London was a no brainer. My daughters met up in London every year and always came here. So when myself and husband came to see Les Miserables we didn't even look anywhere else to stay. Everything was excellent. The welcome, gorgeous room and bathroom. Ordered lunch when we got there. They arranged taxi's for our... More

We recently stayed for 2 nights in the Academy Hotel and I cannot recommend it enough The room was lovely and spacious and although on a main road there was hardly any traffic noise, the staff was friendly and and helpful and we will not hesitate staying there again. Where it is situated is also close to all the places... More

Staying in Bloomsbury

Neighborhood Profile
Bloomsbury
Snuggly nestled within Central London is academic and leafy Bloomsbury, an area that boasts walking distance access to many of London's most popular attractions. It is also home to some of Britain's most celebrated museums, including the must-see British Museum. Despite an understandable popularity with students, tourists and day trippers, vast sections of Bloomsbury retain a quiet, residential feel year round and throughout the week.
