I had high hopes, but unfortunately the cramped room was in the attic; stuffy, shabby and oh, that awful shower room (no bath)! - grimy, moldy and a bit smelly... Great location and great towels is about all I can say in its favour :(

Good location. Pleasent service. with daily fulfill of water bottels, apples coffe and tea. we stayed in two room (6 people) the 4p. bathroom had no place to hang the towels. tEach room had only one chair in the room. The mold/mildew in the room evoke allergic reaction for some of us. The noise from the main street (ambulance, police... More

Centrally located with plenty of public transportation option, The Academy was a very good value for a short week's stay. The breakfast which was not included, but was reasonable and tasty. The bed was firm but comfortable. The room itself and the bathroom were small, but quite adequate as we did not spend much time there. We were bothered one... More

Ideal hotel to pick if your looking for a weekend away in London. 15 minute walk to Euston station, 15 minutes to walk to Shaftsbury Avenue, 10 minutes by taxi to Camden. You need Central London, without the big hotel, this is the place!!. Rooms comfortable and very clean, would use this hotel again. Only downside is there isn't a... More

Booked this hotel via hotwire based on four star rating. It's in am amazing location, but is not a four star hotel by any stretch of the imagination. The place overall had a rundown feel. The room was dingy with badly stained carpets, walls, lampshades and smelled of mildew. It had cheap appliances: a dodgy wall a/c and tiny plastic... More

I stayed at this Hotel for one night with my family in one of their Suites. After a long delayed flight we arrived at c.11.30pm and the receptionist could not have been better, we were tired and keen to get into our room and she recognised this and acted swiftly, I am just sorry I did not get her name... We very much enjoyed our stay at the Academy. When in Bloomsbury, we wanted to have an experience that was unique to the place- and that was what we found at the Academy. If you look at the website for the hotel, it is VERY clear that this is a historical building- so to expect a business hotel along the... More

In May I booked two rooms at The Academy for a family group. One room, no. 37, was good but the other, no. 33, was disappointing. Not only were both the bedroom and the shower room much smaller than no.37 but there were several other problems: for example, as mentioned in another review, the loo was wobbly, there was an... The hotel has cunningly concealed delights - so go explore. The hotel has been made of three former Georgian houses and lies delightfully behind a colourful flower display on the street-side. Within the building staircases spread web-like to two upper floors. The room we had was on the front so that is was noisy re ambulance and police traffic. That... More

Little did I know the person who booked my 8-night stay at The Academy had signed a contract preventing cancellation in exchange for a slightly lower rate. The price was for a double room but when I arrived internationally on a Sunday night, I was given a room that was postage-stamp size, was outside the breakfast-room stair, and had no... More
