The Academy is a very pretty charming hotel! Our room was gorgeous - but it did feel a bit like staying in an attic. If you like a boutique type hotel that feels authentic this is for you! The hotel doesn't have an elevator so we had to walk up 4 flights of stairs each time we went to our... More

We stayed in the Junior Suite for 1 night and we had a very pleasant stay. The staff was very welcoming and attentive (children were offered a complimentary activity pack on arrival). The bed was comfy, the room clean, and we had a decent continental breakfast. Although it is situated on a main road, the room was not noisy. The... More

We stopped one night at The Academy in order to go to the Globe theatre. We went on a Travelzoo offer which was very reasonably priced for central London and also gave us a junior suite on the front of the hotel. Despite being on a busy road the room was surprisingly well sound insulated. It was also very well... More

One night stay for a quick trip to London. Superb room #26, which was a good size. Beautifully furnished, with a very comfortable bed. Located at the back of the Hotel so very quiet. Luxury bathroom down some steep steps, may not suitable for those with less mobility. Excellent value on a weekend. Great staff and one of the best... More

Spent 9 days at The Academy. We had the junior suite. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. The location is fabulous, close to tube stops and within walking distance of shopping and restaurants. Hotel is clean and well-appointed. The bed was comfy and the bathroom large (for European standards). The toilets are finnicky. Apples and complimentary water, tea and coffee.... More

What a really wonderful small town house hotel, on arriving early we asked for an earlier check in and the reception said they would contact house keeping and ask and yes we were in out room by 1230 which was perfect as we were going to see Frank Sinatra at the palladium in the afternoon. The room was absolutely lovely and... Spent 2 nights here in July with my daughter via a great deal from Travelzoo. What a find! Beautiful Georgian townhouse with lovely period features. We had a junior suite and the full English breakfast was superb. Plenty of choice including fresh fruit, cereals, juices and of course cooked options. Staff were all polite and helpful and we were offered... More

Had a really lovely relaxing afternoon tea with a bottle of Prosecco in the garden of this elegant hotel. So quiet, you could forget you were in central London. Very good service, and delicious food. Will return with friends in the near future.

I previously stayed in The Academy's sister hotel Threadneedles in Bank and was highly impressed. I was lucky to be able to stay at this hotel with my mother and we were not disapppointed. Staying in Bloomsbury

Neighborhood Profile
Bloomsbury
Snuggly nestled within Central London is academic and leafy Bloomsbury, an area that boasts walking distance access to many of London's most popular attractions. It is also home to some of Britain's most celebrated museums, including the must-see British Museum. Despite an understandable popularity with students, tourists and day trippers, vast sections of Bloomsbury retain a quiet, residential feel year round and throughout the week.
