We stayed at the Academy recently. This is a good hotel, it is clean and cozy. The food we had was very good. The Hotel is in need of decoration in places but by no means should this deter your stay. It is well placed for the West End as long as you don't mind a short walk. We found... More

We booked this hotel based on the beautiful photography and promise of a comfortable, even decadent stay. Our room was basic with a lot of cosmetic work needed to update the rather tired décor and bathroom (scuff-marks on the walls up to our top floor room were a concern). The wifi is limited on the top floor, so if you’re... More

We had 3 rooms booked for a family celebration. As they were busy we were upgraded, all the rooms were lovely with lots of extras. Everything we required was provided in the rooms, tea/coffee making facilities, slippers and robes, safe and the usual toiletries. The beds were so comfortable, could easily have stayed longer! The staff were so very helpful,... More

Visited The Academy for afternoon tea with friends. Tea was taken in the basement just off the bar area where, I assume breakfast is served. Didn't particularly like the black tablecloth a bit depressing. We were asked if we wanted tea or coffe and I had to ask for the "tea" menu to see what teas were available. I was... More

My now-husband and I stayed at the Academy for one night early June 2014 as a treat/mini-break after our pre-wedding shoot. On the whole we had a lovely stay, and would return for the right price. Check-in: I emailed the hotel prior to arrival asking if our room could be ready a little earlier than normal if at all possible,... More

Stayed here for a Saturday night last weekend. We were able to check in at lunchtime, and leave our bags at reception as our room wasn't quite ready. Very good location, easy to find, close to Euston yet also close to main shopping and museums. Room was modern and clean. Tea and coffee making facilities in room, and flat screen... More

Really enjoyed our afternoon tea here that we had booked for my birthday. Admittedly we were the only people in the restaurant but that was ok. Our waiter was attentive and professional, we felt really relaxed. Would have been even better if they had the real fire lit! Would recommend this experience.

I genuinely am not one to write reviews after a bad experience, but on this occasion I am so unhappy that I feel it necessary. Absolutely appalled by this hotel. After deciding to book The Academy having seen the pictures of the rooms, what we were actually given was horrendous. The bathroom - where do I even begin?! It was... More

Booked via Lastminute.com - sold as "4 Star" - what nonsense! We were in Room no.3 and it was ridiculously small. I knew things were going to be bad as soon as we tried to book in. Arrived, waited in an unmanned reception for 10 mins. I then walked behind the desk into the office where a lady attempted to... More

Thoroughly enjoyed my stay at The Academy during my first visit to London! Excellent location: very walkable to the Tube, museums, and libraries I was visiting. Arrived Heathrow early Thursday morning and made my way through cold rain to deposit my luggage ahead of check-in. Hotel Staff were all friendly and helpful throughout stay: no request too big or small... More

Staying in Bloomsbury

Neighborhood Profile
Bloomsbury
Snuggly nestled within Central London is academic and leafy Bloomsbury, an area that boasts walking distance access to many of London's most popular attractions. It is also home to some of Britain's most celebrated museums, including the must-see British Museum. Despite an understandable popularity with students, tourists and day trippers, vast sections of Bloomsbury retain a quiet, residential feel year round and throughout the week.
