We stayed here in a family room for a weekend break, 2 adults and 2 children. Upon arrival in our car late at night, we were directed to the underground car park. We then spent at least 20 minutes with two young children, trying to find the way out on foot as most of the exits were locked. The hotel... More

Got off the tube right after our overnight flight and found it instantly! Great location for wandering around- close to Buckingham Palace. Very comfortable room. Nice breakfast. Had a morning flight to Vienna from Heathrow and was a bit bummed that the front desk staff told us the tube wasn't running at that time and recommended we book a very... More

Souless, soul destroying, solely a place to sleep and then leave. Did not get the deco, the building, the vibe. Good location if you want to visit the Queen a plus. But if so I guess you would have the cash to go more upmarket. If you need a bed this is a place if you want to live a... More

The Thistle Westminster was a great hotel to stay in, large room with a nice view over London and super close to Buckingham Palace. Staff were very helpful, and we got a free drinks voucher since we stayed during the olympics! Highly recommended.

Really liked this hotel, apart from check in. I tried to check in early (1 hour before check in time), but was rudely advised that it was not possible, so I gladly sat in reception reading a magazine to wait. The kind conscierge asked if I needed assistance and i advised I was waiting for my room and that I... More

I stayed in this hotel for only one night and on arrival I found the staff on reception to be friendly and helpful. The hotel itself is located on Buckingham Palace Road and it is about 5 minute walk from Victoria Underground Station (Gatwick Express, 30 min into Victoria) and also Victoria Coach Station it is easily within walking distance... This hotel is very close to Victoria station (bus, train and tube) - so walk to Buckingham Place, The Mall, Westminster, London Eye and lots of other London sights. Special mention to the concierges who booked a West End show for us and were very helpful - given we only had 24hrs in London. Would stay here again. Only thing... More

Had a lovely two night stay in the Thistle Westminster 14th/15th September 2012. Flew in from Dublin to Gatwick airport, hotel very convenient to Victoria Station (Gatwick Express,30 mins into Victoria). Staff very friendly, upgraded us, as it was our wedding anniversary. Open top bus stops outside hotel, which I would recommend, you get to see all the sights and commentary... More

Staying in Westminster

Neighborhood Profile
Westminster
If you only had an afternoon to experience London on a grand scale, Westminster would be a wise place to start. The ornate Houses of Parliament and Westminster Abbey sit adjacent at a corner of Parliament Square, and a short stroll along The Mall leads to Buckingham Palace. Trafalgar Square and Nelson's Column are just up the road as well. As captivating as the architecture is, the wonders of Mother Nature are highlights of the area too. St James's Park (arguably London's loveliest), the expansive Green Park, and pedestrian friendly tree lined paths along the river showcase the exquisite manicure provided by English gardeners. Just beyond the landmarks and the gorgeous outdoor spaces, quiet residential squares and age old local pubs offer a more subdued take on this global seat of power in the heart of London.
