Another okay hotel in London. Bar was fine. Bedroom small and very dated. A grand hotel which if updated would probably be out of my price range. Not a great decision to stay here. Booked because it is close to St Pancras and much cheaper than the Kings X hotels like the Renaissance and Pullman. But you do feel it's... More

We spent two nights at the Russell, and though our initial impression was not so great (we had just been staying in an outstanding boutique hotel), the place began to increasingly appeal to us. The location is outstanding - near two tube lines and also within easy walking distance to many places. The Victorian architecture is fantastic, both inside and... More

Finding an affordable hotel in London that is clean, comfortable and has charm is not easy. This is one of the best options. Perfect location and if you choose a room without breakfast there are plenty of good options just around the corner. I recommend this hotel for all kinds of tourists.

I had a one night stay at the Hotel Russell, a grand and imposing Victorian hotel overlooking Russell Square. This is close to tube connections and the trappings of central London. The room was a single - and a definite single. The décor was rather faded and old-fashioned and need of a refresh. The bathroom could have been cleaner. However,... More

We were very happy with our stay in Hotel Russell. The staff were very helpful and friendly and the room neat and tidy. The rooms are compact with a rather large bathroom. You have everything you need in the rooms and we were very comfortable. The breakfast was very good and plenty to choose from. Very reasonably priced for what... More

After reading some reviews, I was afraid that this booking could be a bit of a hit and miss. I was pleasantly surprised! First of all it's very close to Russell Square tube station, which is unbelievably convenient after a long day of walking. I booked a twin room and got allocated room 660, which was surprisingly big and comfortable.... More

Had great expectations as we walked up to the hotel, it looked fabulous from the outside. Reception staff were polite and efficient. Room was not great, the bed was the most uncomfortable I've experienced for a long time and the constant noise that filtered through the the single glazed window meant sleep eluded us for most of the night. Visited... More

Really classy hotel, offering great service, big nice rooms and excellent food and drink. Only thing missing is parking, but there's public parking nearby. Will definitely consider again next time we're in town!!

The hotel Russell is a beautiful building in a great location in central London. However, the rooms are dated and fairly small - the room size is standard for London though. The breakfast was fairly simple as well. All in all, it is ok, but I had expected more because of the grandeur of the building.

I arrived at the Hotel at 17:30, but it was 22:00 when I entered the room relatively close to my requests. (1st room) In advance, I requested a twin-bedded room with a bathtub. However, when I checked in, the hotel prepared a small double-bed room. (2nd room) In response to my complaint, the hotel offered me another twin-bedded room with... More

Staying in Bloomsbury

Neighborhood Profile
Bloomsbury
Snuggly nestled within Central London is academic and leafy Bloomsbury, an area that boasts walking distance access to many of London's most popular attractions. It is also home to some of Britain's most celebrated museums, including the must-see British Museum. Despite an understandable popularity with students, tourists and day trippers, vast sections of Bloomsbury retain a quiet, residential feel year round and throughout the week.
