the hotel is beautiful and fantastic location to walk to all the main attractions and areas however although the common parts of the hotel are beautiful my room was shabby and had the noisiest creaking bed I have ever been in. Stopped us from sleeping! ceiling was badly cracked and holes in wall had been filled but not painted! Not... More

Stopped here in Feb due to an awards dinner round the corner. The room I had backed out into the courtyard through frosted glass so not much of a view but probably a good job not as the noise from the other side was of industrial extractor fans which are really noisy. The room its self appears to be dated,... More

The hotel is listed in Wikipedia - some portions of the hotel were architected by the same architect who did the Titanic. Hotel looks royal from the outside, the reception and dining areas are beautifully appointed. Great location, very close to Russell Square and Holborn underground stations and the British Museum. The hotel doesn't have a gym, although they provide... More

wonderful location, elegant, friendly and welcoming, absolutely fabulous hotel, would recommend to anyone wanting a luxurious but affordable stay in London with that touch of class and warmth. The hotel in itself is just magnificent and the warm staff couldn't have been more attentive. Our room was beyond expectation and the food and cocktails in the Tempus Bar were fantastic.... More

A beautiful old world hotel, very traditional and very welcoming. A great central location, literally outside the Russell Square tube. Good room rates, very friendly and professional welcome. Bar is warm with great choice of beverage Breakfast is buffet, self serve - I did expect a bit more for the money such as choice of eggs, even some haddock would... More

Been promising ourselves a visit to the Russell for a while and when a bargain offer came our way we snapped it up. Lovely place. Very welcoming. Great service. Nice surroundings. Great location. Popped across to the square for a coffee. Down to Covant Garden 15 mins, to St Pancras and new Kings Cross in 10 mins. British Museum.on your... More

I've walked past this hotel numerous times en route to wherever from Euston station. I've always admired the building but I've always thought the hotel would be out of my price range as it looks so grand. My husband was speaking at the Education Festival and I was attending and as the hotel offered discounts to delegates we decided to... More

Greeting at reception was outstanding. Choice of rooms despite wanting single and the room was really very good indeed. Others at the same business event in different rooms locally all agreed this was far the best accommodation and not the most expensive. The room was bright! It was possible to read and work without being in a dark and gloomy... More

The hotel Russel exceeded my expectations. The double room was a good size and I loved the decor of the hotel. I think I was most surprised by the friendliness of the staff. I would definately return and have recommended this hotel to my family and friends

Staying in Bloomsbury

Neighborhood Profile
Snuggly nestled within Central London is academic and leafy Bloomsbury, an area that boasts walking distance access to many of London's most popular attractions. It is also home to some of Britain's most celebrated museums, including the must-see British Museum. Despite an understandable popularity with students, tourists and day trippers, vast sections of Bloomsbury retain a quiet, residential feel year round and throughout the week.
