The title summed some of the important points. Let me add: It is convenient to Victoria station, which is easy to train to from Gatwick. And many bus tours have stops at Victoria. It's close to a couple of theaters, local shops, low key pubs/ cafes. The staff was friendly. You'll pay for internet usage 1£ for 2 hrs. Walk... More

The hotel, our bedroom and shower room need upgraded (carpets not in great condition, frayed and dirty net curtains, dirty windows) and the rooms are VERY close together. However, for a comfy bed for the night and London base, it was actually quite good! £187 for 2 nights in a twin room; bed sheets and covers were changed, clean and... More

Of course when you are travelling to London, there is so much to do and you do not care a lot about the hotel where you stay, however I must say that this hotel is very bad and does not worth anything. The room size is not a problem for me, but the room was dirty, very old with dirty... More

Firstly, I'd like to ask what the 'new' in the name stands for, as there's nothing in this hotel that's any newer than about 1996. There was even a phone book in our room dating back from 2006. Our 'experience' at the New England Hotel began when we were left waiting outside - and I don't mean at reception, I... More

This hotel is the dirtiest place I have ever seen - absolutely filthy, so bad I took pictures because I didn't think anyone would believe me. The bathroom was disgusting, the carpets were filthy and stained even the walls were dirty. We would have turned around and left but we had paid in full for 3 days and got there... More

A friend booked this hotel for us and apparently didn't read any reviews. It was dirty, run down. Torn curtains, mold in the shower. Walls were dirty with I don't know what. I refused to stay here so we moved, despite a one night penalty.

First of all, when I walked into the hotel it didn't look like the pictures I had seen of it. It looked older and dirtier. Secondly - their customer service was awful! The room that they gave me and my friend had a window that wouldn't lock - it led to a shared balcony and I could walk to other... More

One good point is the location - that's it! the top floor is claustrophobic and so cramped you can hardly manoeuvre round the bed. The nets are ragged, grey and unwashed and the curtains are dirty - you really don't want to touch them. The shower room fan is an accident waiting to happen as it is blocked with dust... More

In London, location is everything. The New England is close to Victoria Station which is a real plus. It's also close to Wilton Rd., which has some good restaurants. I was travelling by myself and so it was ok. For a hotel that was recommended by Rick Steve's, I was disappointed. There was nowhere in the room to hang any... More

Staying in Pimlico

Neighborhood Profile
Pimlico
Time spent in Pimlico is a slower-paced affair than most other Central London neighborhoods. This largely residential area orderly arranged beside the Thames, is a treasure trove of quaint pubs, subtle architectural charms and local boutiques. Here, art lovers thrill at the chance to visit the world class Tate Britain gallery for its collection of British art from the 1500s to the present. For peace and quiet and some downtime spent along the Thames, Pimlico is highly recommended.
