We stayed at the Ashburn for 5 days / 4 nights. Our first impression of the hotel was OK. On the plus side, they upgraded our room to a deluxe, on the minus, the pale coloured carpets were showing signs of wear and tear and looked a little grubby, especially around the elevators. Breakfast was a little disappointing as only... More

The Ashburn Hotel is a lovely boutique hotel in the Kensington area of London. It is conveniently located within a 5 minute easy walk of the Gloucester Road underground (tube) station. I enjoyed the fact that the Ashburn Hotel is neither a chain hotel nor a "cookie-cutter" type of lodging. We booked 2 rooms for our family (rooms 401 and... More

Our first surprise was that upon our arrival at 10 am, just to drop bags, they had our room ready. We were actually amazed! The twin room on the fourth floor was positively sparkling, with everything we needed. Staff here are so accommodating worth so much these days. Breakfast was quite extensive for continental, but you could upgrade to cooked... More

Decent rooms, good location, great view of London rooftops, sound breakfast, overall pleasant experience. Would have been rated 5, but the room we were initially allocated was a dingy glorified cupboard and we had to ask to be moved to another room.

Rooms lovely. Nice view of street. Great location to walk to Kensington Palace and Hyde Park - also the High Street for shopping. Bus stop close by for pick up for tours. Also had half price drinks during happy hour.

Lovely little hotel within walking distance to Kensington Palace, parks and museums. The staff were very helpful and welcoming. Our room was larger than what we expected and very comfortable for our 3 night stay. We were on the ground floor and did not hear any traffic noise which was pleasing after a long journey. The bathroom could do with... More

We stayed 6 nights in May 2015. This was our 3rd time staying at this hotel and it has become our home away from home. We had an executive double and the room was very clean as always. The staff was wonderful, helpful and polite. The location is about as good as it gets 2 blocks from the Tube and... More

The Asburn Hotel is my favorite boutique hotel to stay at in London. The location is perfect. The hotel is one block from the Gloucester Road underground station which puts the entire city at your doorstep. Less than two blocks away from the hotel are Sainsbury Grocery, Whiterose Grocery, Tesco Convenience Store, Boots Pharmacy, numerous restaurants, coffee shops, and even... More

Upgraded on arrival plus complimentary chocs and prosecco for my birthday. Small details but make a big difference. Staff friendly and helpful. We arrived early and left bag - when we returned it had been placed in room ready. Room and bathroom were good size and comfortable. A little noisy during rush hour as we overlooked busy main road but... More

Staying in South Kensington

Neighborhood Profile
South Kensington
With its ivied mews, row upon row of Poppins-esque white washed mansions, and placid garden squares, it's easy to see the charms of South Kensington. And with superb access to Hyde Park, Holland Park and Kensington Gardens, as well as the largely child-friendly and mostly free Museum Quarter (not to mention more major attractions like Royal Albert Hall) such charms are easy to make the most of. As welcoming and cosmopolitan as it is reserved and residential, South Kensington is always a hit with visitors.
