Location of this hotel couldn't be better, 3 short stops away from London Victoria via Tube to Gloucester Rd (Westbound). Staff were amongst the most friendly I've come across anywhere in the UK and couldn't have been more helpful. Our party consisted of 3 rooms, 2 were a little on the small side with the Double Bed taking up the... More

We bought some tickets for the Frankie Valli show at the Albert Hall, 30th of June. Didn't occur to us that Wimbledon would have just started and rooms across London would be pricey and hard to find. Booking.com threw up the Kensington Rooms as being within walking distance of the venue. Booked it up despite some of the dire reviews... More

For the more tham 300 euros per day it was very bad. The room was on the old part of the hotel and it didn't have a third bed as requested but an sofa bed with a terrible matress. It had a window for a small inner wall that was very dirty and could use a new courtain too... The... More

We happened to be in London during the 2015 PRIDE event so we expected the room prices to be high. We paid £130 for one night in a very low standard room. My friend is 5"4 and could reach from one wall to the other laying down. The bed was comfy and the room was clean but for some reason... More

We had our Wedding Reception here 10 years ago, it WAS incredible.... on arrival June 24th 2015, we were greeted by a member of staff informing us that there had been a situation and we were being moved to the apartments next door!.... the lady in front of us was being moved to Hammersmith so we thought we would give... Hotel staff helpful and it's in an ok location. However it is greatly let down by the condition. Room extremely basic, didn't look anything like the pictures. I don't know why they think the decoration is contemporary, there is no decor. Bathroom ridiculously small, couldn't stand up properly in there or even close the shower door. Windows single glazed so... More

Reception was very poor, overall took 20-30 minutes to get our keys, badly organised and very rude-abrupt man. People were already complaining when we arrived and we were considering trying to find a different hotel, but knew they were already booked locally. Carpet through the building is really frayed, decoration extremely poor in some areas, where paint is flaking off... More

If you want to stay in Kensington, you may end up paying EUR 1000+ per night in some "luxury" mews, EUR 500+ in a nice hotel, EUR 130 here, or EUR 100 at Imperial's dorms (over the summer). Clearly, you get what you pay for. Kensington rooms are somewhat shabby, and on a busy road (although it also has rooms... More

Arrived at the hotel at around 6.30 after travelling for the full afternoon. Originally booked this hotel as I was at a conference the next day at the science museum - literally 5 minutes walk down the road. When I arrived I was told their was 'maintenance' issues and therefore they were having to move me to a new hotel... More

Staying in South Kensington

Neighborhood Profile
South Kensington
With its ivied mews, row upon row of Poppins-esque white washed mansions, and placid garden squares, it's easy to see the charms of South Kensington. And with superb access to Hyde Park, Holland Park and Kensington Gardens, as well as the largely child-friendly and mostly free Museum Quarter (not to mention more major attractions like Royal Albert Hall) such charms are easy to make the most of. As welcoming and cosmopolitan as it is reserved and residential, South Kensington is always a hit with visitors.
