I am completely baffled by the good reputation of this dump. It was terrible. I have stayed in numerous London hotels and this was by far the worst. The room was hideous, with a tacky style completely different from the public areas. The room was stuffy, and opening the window was unpleasant due to the noisy neighborhood. The staff were... More

This is a classy little place, very nice rooms with cooking facilities (which we didn't use, to tell you the truth). Excellent shower (after a bunch of shall we say rural showers on the countryside). Nice little backyard (if there's no one smoking in it) for a drink on a nice spring night. They even have a hotel cat.

Tiny room, but spotlessly clean. There was problems throughout with the TV signal. Mattress was sagging - they first tried to argue that it was merely soft but when I insisted they readily offered to switch to another room (the two I saw had mattresses that were equally worn). Eventually we agreed that they would turn the mattress over in... More

My wife and I stayed at Vancouver Studios for 3 nights in September '09. The location is terrific! Only a short walk to the shops and restaurants on Queensway, and the famous Portobello Road antique market is about 5 blocks west. Like most British and European hotels, the rooms are quite small by American standards, but our room was certainly... More

After reading reviews for this hotel on TripAdvisor, I booked a 4-night stay. It was a quick taxi ride from Paddington (after coming in on Heathrow Express). My room was spotless, and the hotel staff were fantastic. I was alone on this part of my trip and felt completely safe in the neighborhood and within the hotel (desk is staffed... More

I have stayed here 5 times in the last six months.. Latest being Jan 10. The hotel is located off a main street in the bayswater area.. 5 Mins from Queensway Tube, 3 mins from Bayswater tube. Buses stop at the end of the road... The main street along the road has plenty of shops and many kinds of resturants... More

Rooms were pretty small and compact. It is loacted a stone's throw from Kensington Garden, and is close to 2 tube staions, Bayswater and Queensway.

The hotel is in good position - walking distance from Queensway, Bayswater and N.Hill. Paddington is 10min away with taxi what is convenient if you are arriving from Heathrow. Hotel is clean and comfortable, and staff is very kind and helpful (what is not the case in some London hotels!) My studio was small but modern. Kitchenette is not for... More

I stayed in the hotel for 7 nights (end of Octob. - Beg. of Nov. 09); mainly, on a business trip, for a couple of days then i went shopping. I have spent almost 2 months, prior to my stay, surfing the internet to come up with the most-priveleged hotel to stay in. The reviews that i have read before... More

Group of 8 in 2 triple apartments - one was large enough to put up extra bed, one was not. Apartments very clean and comfortable. Handy to have a kitchenette for breakfast, snacks etc. Bathrooms small, but perfectly clean. Staff were all very pleasant. Area was OK - no noise from outside - and streets appeared safe. Close to food... More

Staying in Notting Hill

Neighborhood Profile
Notting Hill
As West London's friskiest corner, Notting Hill more than manages to retain plenty of the same appeal that's brought the affluent area so much worldwide attention. In this attractive cobblestoned neighborhood, a delectable variety of eateries, independent shops, galleries and street vendors offer a delightful window into how to live the good life in London, with each presenting visitors with an experience that's a little more idiosyncratic and endearing than the last. Travelers looking to forage for antiques should be sure to visit the Portobello Road Market on Saturdays, the largest antiques market in the United Kingdom.
