The location was excellent for us as we wanted to be close to London Liverpool station and close to the tower of London. Other than that, we had a pretty bad experience. The hotel staff said hello when we walked in at about 1:00 pm and asked "were you wanting to check in?" we said "yes" to which she responded... More

Not here for the first time I've to say the improvements are lacking, the rest remained !Still a place for the ones not getting shocked too much by the neighbourhood ….still functional , as specially on the weekend when the Brick Lane-street fest "roars", but many tiny little things are getting a bit on the nerves…..let's say a place in... I did not pick this hotel myself. I travelled as part of a group of friends and the decision was not mine. When I checked in to my room I saw that they want 200/220 for a single room and I thought: "Well, this can't be too bad then". I have stayed in hotels in many big cities all over... More

This hotel was a real surprise find. It was also a little tricky to find on the day! The entrance is via a small door on the street next to a cafe, which leads to a narrow staircase where you find reception tucked away to the right. Upon arrival, my colleagues and I were made to feel most welcome and... More

I stayed here 2 years ago and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the decor, quietness of the room I had and the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. I just had another weekend stay and I can honestly say it is just as good as before, and given the easy access to central London, the prices are still... More

I recently stayed at the City Hotel for 4 nights and was not impressed. Firstly, I understand that this is a budget hotel, but I thought the hotel would be more inviting. The location is poor. I was scared when I was walking back to the hotel at night. The individuals that walk the streets near the hotel are shady... More

Refreshing hotel experience, with none of the penny pinching you often see. Big clean room, good view, friendly and helpful staff at the desk, wifi just works (not one of those horrible hotel systems)

OK, first things first, it's clear from the moment you walk into your room that this hotel is is DESPERATE need of refurbishment. I initially thought to myself "what have I done, why did I book this place........". However, it is very clean, the beds are comfortable, it's quiet considering it's central location. It is VERY close to Aldgate East... More

Good stay. Didn't have any issues. Room was nice and large (for London). Bathroom was good. Staff were nice and helpful. Very, very close to underground station. Very close to some fantastic cafes for breakfast and coffee. WiFi was good also.
