I spent my birthday with my mum who visited me here in London. We stayed in this amazing hotel for a couple of days (Friday-Saturday). The location is excellent, since it is close to both Farringdon and Barbican stations, and to the Smithfields market as well. The staff and the receptionists are extremely helpful, kind and attentive. The beautiful cat... More

I cannot fault this hotel in any way shape or form. the staff are friendly and helpful. Teh atmosphere is cosy and welcoming. the rooms are divine and filled with antique treasures. Even Lady grey the hotel cat is the best behaved most refined cat I have ever seen. This time we treated ourselves to breakfast (it is room service... More

We stayed for two nights over a weekend. As others have said, boutique hotel, definitely not corporate and it is obvious that each room is unique. This does mean that there are things that you may be used to (lots of electrical sockets, lifts or large windows) that are not there. This in our opinion only adds to the charm.... More

Great hotel, excellent service, interior, classical and more than beautiful and well done. The only point I don't like is the breakfast at the room, I like a room downstairs for breakfast, but that is personal. The rooms are big enough, bathrooms great and well done. The room we were, needs an inspection on the bathroom, dripping water of heating.... More

Stayed here 2 weeks ago. Single room on an upper floor. Very spacious for one person. The bed was high and sumptuous - so sumptuous in fact I got the nice chap on reception to write down the brand of mattress so I can get one for home! Lush bedding with big squishy pillows. Felt very pampered and slept like... More

We stayed at the Rookery for three nights when in London on business. Business hotels are not our thing, and The Rookery is just the type of quirky, boutique hotel we look for. Our room was quite large although we hadn't booked a suite (all the rooms are named after individuals with some history in the area; ours was Bridget... More

Tucked away in trendy Clerkenwell sits the Rookery, a small hotel but big on service, great warmth to the place. Rooms are cosy with an old world charm. The staff are wonderfully welcoming and the place is spotless. Well worth a visit, whilst I visited for business it would suit a visitor or a perfect romantic bolt hole.

I stayed at The Rookery for three nights and loved it! My room was quite spacious on the back side of the hotel, away from the street, very quiet. Hotel staff were great, delivering tea to my room each morning. Great sitting room and bar in the back of the hotel and a nice little outdoor garden. The hotel's location... More

Book the Rooks Nest suite — it's ridiculous (in a really, really good way). Two storeys, with the ceiling in between sliding open at the touch of a button; views of St Paul's; the craziest bath-shower contraption I've ever seen; brilliantly weird old books everywhere; the world's most characterful four-poster bed (cherubs with whips, anyone?). Aside from the suite itself,... More

Nice rooms, classic furniture and decoration Some people have mentioned that the rooms lack enough light. That is not my opinion. Breakfast is served in the room. That's is cozy, especially for couples. There is no restaurant. But meals are served in the room. Meals are good. Not a cheap hotel, but that is common for London. Near the subway.... More

Staying in Clerkenwell

Neighborhood Profile
Owing to its proximity to Smithfield Market – the site of an ancient meat market which remains in operation today – Clerkenwell boasts a plethora of globally renowned restaurants, fabulous local eateries, and some of London's favorite pubs. This isn't merely a focal point for all things foodie though. Spend enough time wondering through the area's maze of streets and you might become accustomed to the litany of slinky models passing between Clerkenwell's handful of fashion houses. Far outnumbering the models are craftspeople and designers, many of them are more than happy to welcome visitors into their studios and showrooms.
