We stayed here for one night over August Bank holiday weekend. When we checked in, we were told that our room had been upgraded, and after completing paperwork, the receptionist showed us to our room, which was in House 4, in a small street to the side of the hotel building. The room was large, lovely had airy , small... More

Room overlooked Green Park so was well located, but had to haggle to get the the room. Initially was led outside of the hotel to an apparent annexe to get to our room. We protested at which point we were led through the hotel and through service corridors to get to the room via an alternative route. We refused and... More

We have stated before and had no problems. This time we had problems with noisy children in the adjoining bedroom who were up all night. Called reception but didn't stop them. Room is comfortable. The staff are all really friendly and its is in a great location. I wouldn't book breakfast again however as I found the cost disproportionate to... More

My friend and I stayed just for the one night but it was a stay I shall never forget from the lovely doorman rushing to protect us from the pouring rain and the afternoon tea which just went on and on to the drinks and canapé invite on booking in, apparently they do it every Wednesday. The food was delicious... More

We were bought afternoon tea for two as a wedding gift at the hotel and it was so lovely. We were seated at the 5.30pm sitting which I think made all the difference as we didn't feel rushed at all (you get a 2hr slot for your sitting and they have 3 a day, the 5.30pm one is the last).... More

A five star hotel that manages a perfect balance between 5 star luxury and friendly home from home rather than pompous and stuffy. Well situated property, with lovely rooms those at the front of the building have great views. I will definitely stay again.

When I stay in a fine hotel, the first thing I want is a personal service. The fantastic gentleman at the front door remembered our surname for our entire stay. When we left the hotel to go out he would say... "have a nice day Mr and Mrs Flouri" when we came back he said "welcome home Mr and Mrs... More

All I can say is a fantastic four days spent in London due to the location of The Athenaeum Hotel. Practically beside The Hard Rock. Food was beautiful, and staff v. helpful and friendly - nothing was too much trouble. Rooms spotless, and bed v. comfy. would highly recommend.

Staying in Mayfair

Neighborhood Profile
Mayfair
Set beside some of London's best parks and home to world-class galleries, luxurious hotels, and famed thoroughfares, the ultra upscale Mayfair is one of London's most exclusive haunts. Here the shopping is haute, the dining is exquisite, and the nightlife is vibrant. A casual stroll through the area’s chic streets will reveal that Michelin stars and chauffeured cars are practically the norm here. Even if you're on a tight budget, this exceptionally well connected swath of Central London is worth exploring, if only for the chance to take a peak at the goings on of upper crust English society.
