My wife and I travelled to both Amsterdam and London in early April. (I will review the Amsterdam hotel separately). I have stayed at the Athenaeum many times before and I have always gladly given 5 minutes of time to give feedback for others. I have always relied on other reviews for my own travels to help form an opinion... More

Staying at this hotel was a dream. From the moment you arrive, you're greeted with the kind of service you would expect from a hotel of this caliber. The staff was exceptionally warm and friendly. The rooms are clean and modern, and the bed was really comfortable. I didn't want to get out of it. Even though it's on Piccadilly,... More

I can't imagine a better place to stay in London with children than the Athenaeum. Lending us two scooters for the duration of our stay was INCREDIBLE. You didn't have to sign them out, go in and ask or collect them each time - no. Just in your room, ready to go. You're right across from Green Park, Buckingham Palace... More

We had taken afternoon tea at The Athenaeum Hotel last summer and enjoyed it so much that when we started planning our 25th Wedding Anniversary we decided to stay here for a couple of nights. When we arrived we were given a room upgrade to a "Park View" room which overlooked Green Park. We were shown up to our room... More

We loved the Athenaeum. While being a very old building it doesn't look or feel old when you stay there. The staff was very professional and any request we had was handled to our satisfaction. We were particularly impressed by John who greeted us many times during our visit and was helpful in finding the easiest ways to get to... More

This was our second stay at the Athenaeum hotel and equally as nice. It was my husbands 50th birthday and I had emailed to ask if it would be possible for an earlier check in as we had lunch booked for 2:00pm, they up graded our rooms and they were ready for us by 12:00 which was great. Later they... More

We stayed for one night at the Athenaeum Hotel. When we arrived at 4pm our room was not ready and so we were asked if we would like to have a complimentary drink in the bar. We had tea and sandwiches for which we were not charged for. We were upgraded to a Park View room which overlooked Green Park.... More

Very well looked after and had a lovely room. My partner had her 50th birthday that day and even the doorman wished her a great birthday as we went out in the evening. A lovely touch was a cake provided in the room. Thanks to the whole team who made Dawns day a special one

This smallish hotel has a great location. Our room overlooked Green Park and you can walk to galleries, theatres in one direction and Knightsbridge in the other. The staff always appear genuinely friendly and attentive. The restaurant is intimate and food was good. We will be back when we return to London.

Used this for a huge work conference; staff were amazing (particularly Aitor) and rooms were delightful! Very boutique-feel design. Love it! Have stayed here for personal reasons and also for business. Would only stay here now for West End stay-overs!

Staying in Mayfair

Neighborhood Profile
Mayfair
Set beside some of London's best parks and home to world-class galleries, luxurious hotels, and famed thoroughfares, the ultra upscale Mayfair is one of London's most exclusive haunts. Here the shopping is haute, the dining is exquisite, and the nightlife is vibrant. A casual stroll through the area’s chic streets will reveal that Michelin stars and chauffeured cars are practically the norm here. Even if you're on a tight budget, this exceptionally well connected swath of Central London is worth exploring, if only for the chance to take a peak at the goings on of upper crust English society.
