The overall impression is really good. The hotel/hostel is a short walk from Temple underground station (the most useful when arriving from airport/bus station) and within walking distance from everything: heading left on the first street just out of the hotel you'll cross Waterloo bridge which gives you a breathtaking view of the London Eye and Big Ben on one... Stayed with husband and two children. Floor 4 lots of stairs no lift, not good if you have lots of baggage. Room damp, smelt damp. Bedding and towels clean but they do not put mattress covers on so who knows what has been on mattress previously. Mattresses very uncomfortable with springs sticking through. Had to lay children on duvet and... More

I will not chose it again. There was no bed sheet when I checked in untill I asked the reception to get it while the reception lady was playing games. The breakfast is only bread and juice. Nothing is good except the location.

I stayed in the mixed 4-person dorm room and didn't have a great experience. I wish I could say wonderful things, but the only positive was the location and staff. There are many stairs to climb without the assistance of a lift; my room was covered with evidence of damp damage; the shared showers/toilets weren't clean; mattress was old/dirty/covered with... We booked a family room of four. Awful! The room was clean… BUT: 1) it was tiny (which is normal for London); 2) it was stinking (we couldn't succeed to have this horrible smell going away, even by opening the windows); 3) it was noisy (we had to sleep with wax in the ears… but even so we could hear... Hard to find fault with this hotel. Staff are non-existent. There are no lifts (good luck with anything over 20kg). The rooms are student dorm like. The beds are old and uncomfortable. .... But the price? And the placement???? A quarter of ANYTHING in the area and the area is one of the best in the world, so... suck it... More

You get what you pay for in inner London. Rooms are small and pokey but clean enough. It's the location that makes it worthwhile. Overall, a good choice for the budget conscious traveller who wants to be close to the action

Fantastic location, close walk to a lot of main attractions and to a tube station. Good wifi in bar. Very basic, shared bathrooms and not the cleanest - asked for the bins to be emptied 3 times and this wasn't done. Bedrooms clean and functional. Would recommend for someone on a budget holiday but don't expect luxury!

So let's put this into perspective first - this isn't a 5 star hotel, it doesn't claim to be big and luxurious. What it does claim to be (and what it is) is a cheap, basic hotel in the best location. London is a huge vibrant city with so much to see and do and this hotel is in the... More

Booked in 2 moths advanced and we had to stay in different rooms due no places in same room, no problem, but why dont tell us in the moment we are booking so we can find another place?? The recepcionist is never there and you have to keep looking for her/him (look in the bar or in the restaurant inside... More

Staying in Trafalgar Square / Embankment

Neighborhood Profile
Trafalgar Square / Embankment
With its iconic Nelson’s Column, majestic oversized lions and brightly-lit fountains, Trafalgar Square is not just considered the heart of this bustling London hub, but the very core of the city itself. Beyond this esteemed gathering place are more famous icons, as well as a disproportionate numbers of the city’s most popular cultural attractions including the National Gallery and many West End theaters. Along the way to these major sites are quiet lanes and antiquated pubs to discover, as well as riverside vistas to enjoy on the embankment. With a calendar full of celebratory events, any time of year is a fine time to visit.
