On 29th November, I organised a Charity 80's Theme Fancy Disco Party at the Civil Service Club in the iconic Great Scotland Yard on behalf of the Metropolitan Police Staff Association Social,Club. We had 95 guests plus a DJ. We booked the Buffet style menu at the main dining room. As one can imagine it would be quite packed to... More

The Civil Service is the place to book in if you are in London for a show or just to visit and not have the hassle of catching the train back home at night. The food is very good and well priced and served up atractively on dazzling plates and the cutlery is gleaming and the glasses sparkling. The wine... More

The CSC is always busy no matter the day or time of day and it's easy to understand why. The downstairs area has been modernised giving an airy and fresh feel to it. The toilets have also undergone refurbishment with bottled soap and fast dry hand machines. The upstairs restaurant serves excellent food in a formal setting whilst the bar offers... More

I have stayed in here for several weeks, both with the family for holiday and by myself for week. The location is excellent, only 2 minute walk from Trafalgar Square. Room are comforable, free TV, free Wifi, aircon, tea and coffee. There is a little noise if you stay in a room at the front, but remember you are in... More

Can't beat the location which is a shame the hotel let's itself down. I'm very disappointed in the room and overall facilities. The room has mismatched dark paint and there's a strange smell in the air

Although a long-standing Civil Servant and member of the club, it did not occur to me that Tripadvisor would have any great interest since membership is limited to only current and past civil servants. However, following a recent mention and the realisation that potential membership is massive, I take the point that a review is as relevant as those of... More

Excellent location rooms a little small but immaculate, very comfortable beds. Great freshly cooked breakfast and restaurant food very good. Four night weekend deal fantastic value, bar prices very reasonable especially for central London

Lovely building on relatively quiet street near to Trafalgar Square, Whitehall and the Embankment. The room was a good size but basic - I would liken to student accommodation - though the colour scheme wasn't to my taste. Small bathroom (shower room) with not much control over the temperature of the water. Good supply of tea, coffee and milk, clean... More

Staying in Westminster

Neighborhood Profile
Westminster
If you only had an afternoon to experience London on a grand scale, Westminster would be a wise a place to start. The ornate Houses of Parliament and Westminster Abbey sit adjacent at a corner of Parliament Square, and a short stroll along The Mall leads to Buckingham Palace. Trafalgar Square and Nelson's Column are just up the road as well. As captivating as the architecture is, the wonders of Mother Nature are highlights of the area too. St James's Park (arguably London's loveliest), the expansive Green Park, and pedestrian friendly tree lined paths along the river showcase the exquisite manicure provided by English gardeners. Just beyond the landmarks and the gorgeous outdoor spaces, quiet residential squares and age old local pubs offer a more subdued take on this global seat of power in the heart of London.
