I was booked in by my company because it's cheap. The location is great, 5 mins walk from Trafalgar Square & Charing Cross underground. The hotel is very old school and the decor is tired. The rooms are small and decor tired but functional. Freshly cooked breakfast, Staff helpful and free wifi the fastest of any hotel I've used. The... More

Five of us had a table in the restaurant upstairs for lunch. The three course menu (à la carte) is £10.95. But, if two people are dining together the total cost is £14.95. That's an incredible £7.47 for three courses of good quality food. It's not the Ritz but for what you pay it is usually very, very good. I... More

We became members of the club December 2014 and have visited several times since then. There is a good mix of either bar or restaurant food always delicious and excellent value. The club also hosts a variety of entertainment throughout the year. Would highly recommend becoming a member of this club well worth the membership fees.

We attended an annual dinner of our Walking Club last night. It was a formal three-course dinner. The food is great. The portion is ample and the waiters/waitresses are helpful and polite. After the dinner, we proceeded to the bar downstairs to have a few more drinks before retreating to our room at about 11. The room is clean, warm... More

as the title says the location cannot be bettered - its central London at it's best however the shower in our room had no water pressure whatsoever and was absolutely no good whatsoever - there was not even a bath so it was impossible to get or fell clean. Room facilities apart from that - bed, coffee making facilities, air... More

On 29th November, I organised a Charity 80's Theme Fancy Disco Party at the Civil Service Club in the iconic Great Scotland Yard on behalf of the Metropolitan Police Staff Association Social,Club. We had 95 guests plus a DJ. We booked the Buffet style menu at the main dining room. As one can imagine it would be quite packed to... More

The Civil Service is the place to book in if you are in London for a show or just to visit and not have the hassle of catching the train back home at night. The food is very good and well priced and served up atractively on dazzling plates and the cutlery is gleaming and the glasses sparkling. The wine... More

The CSC is always busy no matter the day or time of day and it's easy to understand why. The downstairs area has been modernised giving an airy and fresh feel to it. The toilets have also undergone refurbishment with bottled soap and fast dry hand machines. The upstairs restaurant serves excellent food in a formal setting whilst the bar offers... More

I have stayed in here for several weeks, both with the family for holiday and by myself for week. The location is excellent, only 2 minute walk from Trafalgar Square. Room are comforable, free TV, free Wifi, aircon, tea and coffee. There is a little noise if you stay in a room at the front, but remember you are in... More

Staying in Westminster

Neighborhood Profile
Westminster
If you only had an afternoon to experience London on a grand scale, Westminster would be a wise place to start. The ornate Houses of Parliament and Westminster Abbey sit adjacent at a corner of Parliament Square, and a short stroll along The Mall leads to Buckingham Palace. Trafalgar Square and Nelson's Column are just up the road as well. As captivating as the architecture is, the wonders of Mother Nature are highlights of the area too. St James's Park (arguably London's loveliest), the expansive Green Park, and pedestrian friendly tree lined paths along the river showcase the exquisite manicure provided by English gardeners. Just beyond the landmarks and the gorgeous outdoor spaces, quiet residential squares and age old local pubs offer a more subdued take on this global seat of power in the heart of London.
