I was worried about staying here after reading bad reviews on here, so was pleasantly surprised to find a clean, recently decorated and friendly hotel. The staff were very helpful, the bed comfortable, breakfast perfectly adequate. We stayed in a family room to the side of the hotel which I would recommend as I can imagine the rooms facing Essex... Stayed here on a work trip, found the staff to be friendly, the rooms compact but clean and tidy. The breakfast average - serve yourself toast, croissants, crumpets, cereal, yoghurt and fruit. Good tea but instant coffee.

I stayed here for about 2 days & I noticed somebugs that looked a brown ladybug. Didn't think too much of it until the last night there I got really paranoid about it being bed bugs. My worst fears were realized a day or so after I searched google images & realized this is exactly what I saw in my... More

We are regular travellers and use hotels recommended by trip adviser. This is the first time we have felt so inclined to post a review. Please read on..... This has to be the worst hotel we have ever stayed in!  We stayed for one night to see Cold Play at the Emirates and wished we had stayed in central London... More

This was the worst hotel experience of my life. This hotel is located on very busy Essex Road and across the street from what may be the busiest bus stop in London. The road and bus noise just DID NOT EVER STOP. Ever. Keeping the window open was the only way to even remotely begin to cool down the room,... More

Management response:

Our hotel is situated on the Essex Road near a bus stop which does cause some noice. We have reviewed this and last year we installed new double glazing windows to help drastically reduce this noise. There is still some noise from the road but we have done everything possible to reduce this as far as possible. We apologise for... More

Spent two nights in Tommy Miah's last weekend while over to see Arsenal. Given that it was Cup Final weekend, coupled with a Bank Holiday weekend, accommodation was very expensive in the hotels we normally stay in. Other half booked here and got a very reasonable deal, I was really worried though, given some of the reviews. However, the location... More

It has been the most AWFUL EXPERIENCE. Booked for 5 days as I had to work in London for a conference. As it shows on the web they look kind of elegant..with windows. I arrived on Sunday at 2 in the night, the recepcionist took us...underground to a room with no windows and not great clean!!!. I wanted to complaint... More

Booked into the Raj for a night out with friends in London, booked B&B (continental breakfast). Room was small for a triple room and pretty cramped, but was clean, beds were comfortable and the bathroom was ok. Breakfast was disappointing, coffee was terrible and bread was stale, luckily it was being toasted. Good Value and simple London base, would use... More

Tommy Miah's Raj Hotel was exactly what it promised to be, and exactly what we were looking for. Rooms are quite small but very clean, with comfy beds and excellent en suite facilities. The mix of Indian fabrics and modern wallpapers make a visual treat. The tube station is a bit far to walk to, but the N73 night bus... More

I arrived at Tommy Miah’s Raj Hotel late after a long, delayed train journey. The hotel is situated on the outskirts of Islington opposite a large social housing estate. The premises appear to have formerly been a corner store or public house with four floors of accommodation. The architecture appears late Victorian or Edwardian. To the casual observer it is...
