I am not hard to please, but I didn't appreciate my stay at this hotel. The room is clean and nice, yet the food and restaurant arrangment is far less than expected for such an expensive hotel rate. The only upside of the hotel location is that Sainsbury is just across the hotel entrance, yet there was a sign that... More

My wife and I recently stayed at the Bermondsey Hotel for three nights. The location was excellent, as it is walking distance to two underground train stations. The hotel staff were helpful. The rooms were modern and had great wifi. Price was comparable to other hotels in the area.My only negative comment, is that the main entrance was under construction,... More

Apart from the reception area being a building site (which it would have been good to know in advance), I had a lovely stay. Staff were friendly and the room was lovely. Had everything I needed including a wine glass in the fridge for the wee bottle I'd brought with me! The room was a good size, beautifully decorated and... More

The receptionists were extremely helpful and very polite. As we entered they greeted us and checked us in. The room was very clean, neat and spacious. We went with our son so they had to make up spare bed which was okay. Only thing that is a taxi took a while to arrive in the morning on checking out. Over... More

We are currently staying in this hotel as we are doing some works in our flat. The hotel is actually ok (well decorated rooms, clean, comfortable bed, nice area) but the service is awful to say the least. It all starts with the receptionist who says we have to pay extra for breakfast when my reservation clearly states that continental... More

Lovely location, great rooms (a funny shape and a step up to the bathroom though) friendly staff but no bar. Not sure what the policy is here but they don't sell alcohol. Not a disaster if you know in advance but a bit of a shock if not. Not cheap.

Dear NinjaDetective I admit that the large bar on the Ground floor has been a little confusing whilst we finalised the new plans but now the contractors are on site, I trust that within a few weeks the new look lounge will be very inviting for our guests and neighbours to enjoy, coffee's & refreshing mocktails throughout the day. Guests... More

Lovely boutique hotel for London city centre. I stayed one night on business and found the hotel very nice - spacious, clean and bright compared to other places in London. It comes with breakfast - cooked as well as continental buffet. The staff at reception were very pleasant and helpful. I would stay here again.

I stayed for 1 night last week on a short business trip. Checked in by a very efficient receptionist who also took my R/S order after my long day. My room was on the 4th floor which was modern, spacious, clean and very comfortable. I had a stunning view of the Shard which was great to see at night and... More

We chose this hotel because we had good experience before. The location is great, few minutes walking to London Bridge and The Tower, good connection to underground. The room is not so quiet but it is clean, there is comfortable bed, facility for ironing, coffee and tea maker, hairdryer, vanity kit. The only negative thing is that serving of alcohol... More

Staying in Southwark

Neighborhood Profile
Southwark
Even before the arrival of the instantly iconic Shard, the riverside scene in Southwark had moved well beyond any up-and-coming phase of development. For quite some time, locals and out-of-towners alike have loved browsing the boutiques of Bermondsey High Street, foraging through the bounteous stalls at centuries old foodie haven Borough Market, and flocking to the banks of the Thames to enjoy some of Britain's biggest attractions such as Tate Modern and Shakespeare's Globe. Despite Southwark's many popular draws, instant calm can be achieved easily by turning down almost any side street. For more urban buzz, a quick stroll across famed bridges like the pedestrianized Millennium Bridge or the ever photogenic Tower Bridge yields access to the very core of Central London. And with London Bridge Station as this neighborhood's main transportation hub, getting across town (or to anywhere in England for that matter) is a relative breeze.
