Two rooms booked for my sisters one night stay, as she travelled down from Scotland, to run in the London marathon. We were deeply disappointed, because on return to the hotel, after a fantastic day out/marathon race, she was told that a shower or courtesy room was not available, prior to her return flight tonight, interestingly I note there are... Dear S T I am very sorry to read your review. Knowing that many of our guests were participating in the marathon we did offer all of our customers a late check out as well as a Lazy Sunday rate to accommodate guests that were returning from the run, which many guests chose, leaving very few rooms available last night.... Stayed here for London marathon weekend so pricey enough but a very nice room with good air con and in a quiet location. There were six of us staying and we did not eat in the restaurant because of the no alcohol policy. Guys, you lost out big time as we spent almost £200 in a neighbouring restaurant. Cannot understand... More

Dear DebsB Thank you very much for your review. I am pleased that you enjoyed your stay and hope that you are not feeling too sore this morning. Our policy of not serving alcohol is not a commercial one and I am pleased that a number of diners are still enjoying our restaurant. We are making a number of changes... More

I took my wife here for the weekend to celebrate her 40th. It couldn't of been any better. Staff were friendly and professional. The room was clean, quiet, could see the Shard, the bed was really comfortable and the shower was awesome. We had a meal in the restaurant which was lovely, although we couldn't have alcohol with our meal... More

Dear Chrispowell187 I am so pleased that you enjoyed your stay last weekend. We have invested in very good beds and oversized showers to provide our customers with a most comfortable room. I am delighted that you also ate in our restaurant and hope that you were able to sample one of our new mocktails before heading across the square.... More

Wifi is difficult to register on, hard to use, unreliable esp. on iOS devices and when traffic jams after dinner time. When logging on, no alerts are being informed for what may go wrong, lots of productive time are thus lost. The space is not well aligned, hard to turn myself around in room. No access to rooftop but for... More

Really enjoyed our 5 days at Bermondsey Square. We arrived on an early flight from Canada and were able to check in upon arrival. The young women at the front desk were very friendly and helpful and the room was spotless with a very comfortable bed, quality linens and a large modern bathroom with extra large, thick towels and quality... I'm writing this review in the hope that the hotel owner reads it and changes their policy. Lovely hotel, great staff and we stayed in the Lucy suite which has a private jacuzzi on the balcony of the top floor. I was pre warned that the hotel no longer serves alcohol which in itself wasn't a problem as there are... More

Dear Haden1975 Thank you for your review, I am pleased that you enjoyed your stay in our Loft Suite Lucy. We have made the decision at the start of the year to replace pork on our menu and offer turkey bacon and chicken sausages as well as eggs Benedict, smoked salmon and lots of other breakfast alternatives. We are also... More

We stayed just one night here but really enjoyed the stay.. It's such an easy walk from here to tower bridge & the Tower, the Shard , not to be missed Borough Market and in the lovely Bermondsey 'village' area with so many interesting little shops, nice bars and places to eat. We found the room very comfortable, loved the... More

Arrived today for partner's birthday weekend. Pretty standard hotel, nice room, nice staff, food looks interesting. Just not the quirky boutique hotel I was expecting. What happened to the silly, cool things I read about in old reviews, like the ability to order a pillowfight or sex toys through roomservice? I guess that's what happens when you read old articles.

I stayed here for four nights and this hotel will now be my go-to hotel when I need to stay in London. It was clean, friendly and very good value for money. Although not in the centre of town, every thing is easily accessible, and there are plenty of excellent restaurants very close by. The bed was comfortable, and the... More

We stayed at the Bermondsey Square Hotel for three nights. Great location. Not far from London bridge tube station. Great check in. We have arrived early but were able to get a room at once. We did not try breakfast. We had a very pleasant stay.

Staying in Southwark

Neighborhood Profile
Southwark
Even before the arrival of the instantly iconic Shard, the riverside scene in Southwark had moved well beyond any up-and-coming phase of development. For quite some time, locals and out-of-towners alike have loved browsing the boutiques of Bermondsey High Street, foraging through the bounteous stalls at centuries old foodie haven Borough Market, and flocking to the banks of the Thames to enjoy some of Britain's biggest attractions such as Tate Modern and Shakespeare's Globe. Despite Southwark's many popular draws, instant calm can be achieved easily by turning down almost any side street. For more urban buzz, a quick stroll across famed bridges like the pedestrianized Millennium Bridge or the ever photogenic Tower Bridge yields access to the very core of Central London. And with London Bridge Station as this neighborhood's main transportation hub, getting across town (or to anywhere in England for that matter) is a relative breeze.
