Something has happened to this hotel since I last stayed in this hotel back in October 2014. Has there been an ownership change as hotel no longer serves or allow alcohol or serve pork? I chose to stay in the Bermondsey Square Hotel this recent weekend (16 May to 18 May) while visiting London for a short visit. I liked... More

We stayed here for two nights over Easter weekend 2015, and found it to be quiet, clean and even luxurious in its styling and decor. Breakfast was a bit of a disappointment (no toast!?), with a continental emphasis on cold meat and cheese. As a vegetarian, I would have liked a better range of cereals (just packets of Kelloggs, etc),... More

We spent 4 days at the Bermondsey; small/cozy jewel at the heart of London. Close to trains, buses, etc. Great, helpful, super nice people at the reception desk and the restaurant. The rooms were clean, small but comfortable. We loved our stay there!! We will be back at some point.

The hotel, staff and restaurant are very good, the choices at breakfast were variable and enjoyable, didn't miss the pork sausage or bacon at all, as an alternative the scrambled egg and salmon were very good. The rooms are clean , comfortable and quiet, however if you want a shard view room ask at time of booking, the other rooms have a view overlooking an... Stayed with a partner for a weekend away, enjoying what London had to offer. The hotel is clean and well docorated and beds ultra comfortable. The shower has got to be the biggest I have ever seen. Would go again purely for that shower. Was given an upgraded room and I had a great view looking out on the Shard,... More

The hotel staff are wonderful. The restaurant is great too. Please note: the hotel and the restaurant do not serve beer, wine, or liquor. The standard rooms at the hotel have modern bathrooms but the bedrooms are small and dated. The drapes need replacing. These were dusty and hard to open. Guests on the higher floors will want to enjoy... More

Just back from a lovely weekend in London to celebrate my 40th birthday. My fiance and I stayed 2 nights here, thoroughly enjoyed it. Gorgeous room overlooking the shard and the London Eye. Very helpful reception staff who couldn't do enough to help and a fab breakfast. 10 minute walk to tower bridge.

We stayed here overnight as KJ was running in the marathon. We had three rooms in total, including ours which was accessible as I am a wheelchair user. The room itself was excellent, including fresh, contemporary decor and furnishings, lots of space, a large well thought out accessible bathroom, and a sofa which gave it a junior suite sort of... We visited this hotel for a weekend break early April. Whilst the hotel was "nice", I was disappointed when we discovered upon check in that the hotel did not serve alcohol.... And no bacon at breakfast. I don't have a problem with this, however GIVEN THE OPTION, I wouldn't choose to book this. No where online did it say about... More

Staying in Southwark

Neighborhood Profile
Southwark
Even before the arrival of the instantly iconic Shard, the riverside scene in Southwark had moved well beyond any up-and-coming phase of development. For quite some time, locals and out-of-towners alike have loved browsing the boutiques of Bermondsey High Street, foraging through the bounteous stalls at centuries old foodie haven Borough Market, and flocking to the banks of the Thames to enjoy some of Britain's biggest attractions such as Tate Modern and Shakespeare's Globe. Despite Southwark's many popular draws, instant calm can be achieved easily by turning down almost any side street. For more urban buzz, a quick stroll across famed bridges like the pedestrianized Millennium Bridge or the ever photogenic Tower Bridge yields access to the very core of Central London. And with London Bridge Station as this neighborhood's main transportation hub, getting across town (or to anywhere in England for that matter) is a relative breeze.
