The Old Ship is probably the best place to stay in Hackney, and situated just off Mare Street, the location is perfect if you want to stay in what is undoubtedly the most interesting part of London. It's also a lovely pub, with a good selection of ales and a nice atmosphere. The room was good, not fantastic -- the... More

Stayed for the weekend of the Prudential London 100 ride. Had a small top room which was difficult to get a large bike case up to,[old twisty staircase] and was quite stuffy. However, it was surprisingly quiet and a fan was provided [ no ac but it is UK!. It is not a modern purpose built hotel so these things... More

I've been coming here for a few years now and always been a favorite of mine on mare street. Went in yesterday for some food and a few drinks as per usual and it was pretty bad from customer service to food. Firstly we ordered chilli con carne and a fish finger sandwich, hardly difficult dishes to produce. We waited... More

Stayed here for two nights with my friend and had an awesome time. The pub/hotel is in a great area, lots of cool bars and coffee shops. Close to shoreditch and central London. Had by far the best burgers ever on the monday (2 for 1) and tried some great craft beers and ales.Staff are all really cool and helpful,... More

This place is fine if you are looking for a central place to stay in Hackney. The room was clean but small, but perfectly ok for the one night. The location is bang in the middle of the commercial centre so great for a short stroll around the various bars and eateries. The bar in the hotel is very cleverly... More

Plus points Friendly staff and knowledgable about the area. Pleasant rooms ( we had two deluxe rooms for our party) Great real ales Good food (although limited choice) Lovely funky design to the bar Only 10 metres from the Hackney Empire Good shower Great evening atmosphere Minus points Very noisy, I hardly slept. Mattress cheap, I could feel every spring.... More

Stayed here recently with our 2 children, had a family room which consisted of a double bed and a fold out sofa bed. The room was modern and clean, the floor boards did squeak, but other than that couldn't fault the room. The pub is really nicely done out, felt really friendly and the staff were great. Had an evening... More

I had the last room here so I think it was my bad luck, the bathroom had tiles missing the toilet was dirty, the TV did not work, and it was small, I mean small, very small. Pub is nice, the food is very good, breakfast Great!

This small hotel is a couple of minutes walk from Hackney Central amidst the hustle and bustle of East London street life. The bar is contemporary and simple and the open dining area is basic and functional. My single room (8) was pretty small but perfectly clean and well appointed for a one night stay. A really good breakfast was... More

Arrived after a swim at London Fields Lido rather hungry. Relatively empty inside so decided to order food and drinks at the same time. Took about 5 minutes to get served, even though there were only several other people at the bar. This is impressive, considering there were two waiting staff as well as the manager milling about. The tap... More
