The cleaning of common areas is very good, but the room is weak. The lockers are rented, what makes the small room stick with several bags scattered on the floor, so it is a bit difficult to walk. There curtain on the beds, which guarantees some privacy. There is not much availability wall outlet. The girls bathroom of the shared... More

Staff was friendly and helpful, and good location just around the corner from the Russell Square Tube Station. Breakfast is basic, just corn flakes, white bread, jam, tea. I did not see any coffee. Strange. The 6-bed dorm room is basic, tiny and narrow, bunks stacked three high. A big surprise was having to pay 1.5 pounds to ‘rent’ a... More

Ii stayed in Smart Here for 2 nights and got charged 40 pounds per night, 20 euros extra per night in order to stay in a girls only room. One of the male staff members entered the room without knocking the door when I and some other girls were semi naked so I feel that it was abusive from them... More

I stayed at Smart Russell Square Hostel with my sister for seven nights in November and we were posotively surprised when we got there. Having read other reviews before going there, we didn't expect much but actually it was a very nice stay for a few days. The staff was friendly and helpful. Everything (including the showers and toilets) was... More

I booked an en suite dorm room but arrived to find they'd overbooked and put me in a room without a bathroom. It wouldn't have been as bad, were it not for the fact that they are renovating the building so the nearest toilets (on on another floor!!) were closed leaving the whole hostel to use one set of unisex... Friendly welcome, hot water in the showers and a bed to crash in-for fourteen pounds a night in central London you can't really expect much. Showers were kind of clean, curtains around the bed was odd but made getting dressed easier and blocked out some light. Plug socket for each bed. Could have much better ventilation as the rooms were... More

This place is hands down the most disgusting place I've ever stayed in. We cancelled our last night there and slept at a bus stop in the freezing cold because we couldn't stand to be in this building a minute longer. The only thing that was true about the description of this hostel was that there is security at the... More

This hostel is VERY cramped, with beds that are perhaps 180cm long - so no good for tall people!!! Curtains in front of the bunks and lack of any chair or table in the room makes the rooms very "anonymous"; the only place to socialize is the common room on the ground floor. In addition they absolutely have the Ryanair... More

Hi there, thank you for your feedback. Our bunks were chosen to suit guests up to 5ft10 which is taller than the average, however we are currently looking extending this for the comfort of our guests! We receive alot of positive feedback in regards to the curtains for the bed as they provide both privacy and a barrier for the... More

Do not be fooled by the nice exterior of the building - this hostel is an absolute joke! Our room was the size of a cupboard, and the bathroom the size of one in an airplane, with the sink, toilet, and shower practically touching each other. The staff were not helpful at all about local attractions and sites, and the... More

Customer service here is good and is centrally located. It is cheap so I didn't expect a lot from this hostel... this place is recommended if you are tight on your budget. I find it quiet too which made me sleep good at night. Front desk were very helpful.

Hi there, thank you for your feedback. As you mentioned, we are situated very close to two major tube stations; one being Bayswater (district & circle line) and the other Queensway (central line). We pride ourselves on our central and convenient locations. We are glad you also enjoyed the manner of our staff. Our goal is to provide clean, budget-conscious... More

Staying in Bloomsbury

Neighborhood Profile
Snuggly nestled within Central London is academic and leafy Bloomsbury, an area that boasts walking distance access to many of London's most popular attractions. It is also home to some of Britain's most celebrated museums, including the must-see British Museum. Despite an understandable popularity with students, tourists and day trippers, vast sections of Bloomsbury retain a quiet, residential feel year round and throughout the week.
