This is an example of familiar hostel, where you can just rest, have your meals, talk to you friends or just watch TV and something like that. But you can certainly enjoy your night if you wish, there is enough room in the dining hall where you can sit down with friends, play a song and have some drink, or... More

This place had a really great atmosphere and very helpful staff. Our first night we played beer olympics in the common room and it was a blast. Rooms were nice enough, places to lock up your things if you want. Lots of stairs depending on your floor! But so close to the park and easy walk to the tube. I... More

Super convent location only about 5 minutes away from Hyde park, Victoria & Albert Museum, and the Natural History museum. The #10 bus from kings cross is right up the street and the Gloucester road tube station is about 10 minutes away. They have a free breakfast of toast and cereal, the cost is an optional 1£ donations to the... More

We stayed here for just one night and felt home right away. Very clean, nice atmosphere, good beds, large but still cosy common rooms, excellent location etc. etc. Bottomline: everything you wish for during your stay in London. After we checked out we could still use the facilities which was very convenient and our luggage was safe in the storage... More

Our stay at the Astor hostel near Hyde Park was, all in all, great. Apart from one unfriendly staff member (who might just have had a bad day, so no hard feelings), everyone was helpful, polite and unexpectedly American. The 12 bed dorm room was a bit cold at night, but very bright (with a glass roof) and clean, the... More

This was my second time in London, but the first time I stayed in this hostel. For short: I can highly recommend this place. Queen's Gate is a beautiful place with lovely houses (quite a few embassies are here) and Hyde Park nearby. There are hostels that are closer to Underground stations, though (it's a 10 to 15 minutes walk... More

Extremely friendly staff, great location next to Hyde Park. The price is one of the cheapest for Hostels in London, especially in this location. I would completely recommend this hostel. Definitely a good choise.

I've stayed there twice, well once now because i was refused checkin because i didnt have my passport (i stayed before) At hotels i can stay by just giving them my debit card so i find it annoying especially when i've stayed there already. It's not just that, they just seem like they dont care although she did say sorry... More

The hostel is excellent. It has everything you need. Good rooms, great location, excellent kitchen with a good breakfast. There is always someone at reception and there is a beautiful common room. You have a lot of buses just 2 minutes walking and the underground is 10 minutes walking at the most. But for me it has a lot of... More

Staying in South Kensington

Neighborhood Profile
South Kensington
With its ivied mews, row upon row of Poppins-esque white washed mansions, and placid garden squares, it's easy to see the charms of South Kensington. And with superb access to Hyde Park, Holland Park and Kensington Gardens, as well as the largely child-friendly and mostly free Museum Quarter (not to mention more major attractions like Royal Albert Hall) such charms are easy to make the most of. As welcoming and cosmopolitan as it is reserved and residential, South Kensington is always a hit with visitors.
