This hostel just awesome. The staff are so great and friendly, the rooms are very clean, and the location is pretty good. We stayed in a 6-bed room that had a private washroom. It was nice and airy with a big window, and a lot of floor space. There were roll-out cages under the beds to lock up your stuff... More

I stayed at Astor Hyde with a friend for 3 nights. It was pretty close to the tube, like 5 blocks walking. The staff was rally helpful and nice, they even took our luggage to the room. Breakfast was just right, for only 0,50 cents (donated to charity) we had all we needed. The neighborhood is really really nice, right... More

I was in Astor hostel last week with my 4 girlfriends. We have the room on 5th floor so we have our privacy in everything. It was my first time staying in a hostel and i will definitely stay there again and again. The place in Kensington was great and such a rich neighborhood.10minutes from the underground station and just 2minutes... A great hostel. Clean, well located and very safe. The staff is amazing, absolutely helpful and kind all the time. A ridiculously cheap breakfast (50p and you have free coffee and tea all day long) and wide rooms. Only bad side is you don't have plugs right next to your bed, but who cares anyway. P.S. Craig was probably one... More

I enjoyed my time at this hostel. It is in a posh district and very secure. You need a your key card and a password to enter the building. I wouldn't ask the front desk for suggestions nor directions.

This is an example of familiar hostel, where you can just rest, have your meals, talk to you friends or just watch TV and something like that. But you can certainly enjoy your night if you wish, there is enough room in the dining hall where you can sit down with friends, play a song and have some drink, or... More

This place had a really great atmosphere and very helpful staff. Our first night we played beer olympics in the common room and it was a blast. Rooms were nice enough, places to lock up your things if you want. Lots of stairs depending on your floor! But so close to the park and easy walk to the tube. I... More

Super convent location only about 5 minutes away from Hyde park, Victoria & Albert Museum, and the Natural History museum. The #10 bus from kings cross is right up the street and the Gloucester road tube station is about 10 minutes away. They have a free breakfast of toast and cereal, the cost is an optional 1£ donations to the... More

We stayed here for just one night and felt home right away. Very clean, nice atmosphere, good beds, large but still cosy common rooms, excellent location etc. etc. Bottomline: everything you wish for during your stay in London. After we checked out we could still use the facilities which was very convenient and our luggage was safe in the storage... More

Staying in South Kensington

Neighborhood Profile
South Kensington
With its ivied mews, row upon row of Poppins-esque white washed mansions, and placid garden squares, it's easy to see the charms of South Kensington. And with superb access to Hyde Park, Holland Park and Kensington Gardens, as well as the largely child-friendly and mostly free Museum Quarter (not to mention more major attractions like Royal Albert Hall) such charms are easy to make the most of. As welcoming and cosmopolitan as it is reserved and residential, South Kensington is always a hit with visitors.
