This is a great option if you want to do London on the "cheap". They've got great storage facilities, and friendly enough staff. It's also clean and the beds are comfortable. The location is superb! It's a quick jaunt over to Hyde park, the metro line, and the national history museum! There is also a tesco express (supermarket) nearby (by... More

I initially booked a week and I extended my stay a couple of times. The building is amazing and the area is very nice and convenient: there are two tube stations within ten minutes walk, shops close by, and some museums almost next door. The staff are very friendly and helpful. They seem to keep track of everyone and they... More

Pro: - Location: very central, next to Hyde Park and Royal Albert Hall,10 mins walk to Gloucester Road or South Kensington tube station. - Staff: friendly, attentive and helpful. Especially Jax and her colleagues at the reception were very nice and gave good advice on nightlife, culture, pubs, restaurants, getting around and so on. Charo and the girl from Portugal... More

Booked this hostel because it was quite cheap for London and was said to be in a good area, turns out it's actually in one of the nicest locations in all of London! It was also right next to a tube station so the whole city was easily accessible too. The hostel itself was clean and the staff were friendly... More

Didnt I ove my stay but I really didnt I hate the stay. Staff definitely don't care about their short term visitors. They had daily events posted but I never heard of anything actually happening. The room I stayed in was clean and large with under bed storage and trust worthy roommates. My 6 person dorm had one set of... More

Had a cool private room. The shower was good, bed was comfy. The TV was nice. The fan was handy. It would have been good to have a locker still, for piece of mind. They staff were cool when I overslept, missing check out. The only problem was the noise from anyone moving anywhere in the hostel as every step... More

The staff I encountered at Astor Hyde Park seemed absolutely disinterested and miserable - appears that they work there for the accommodation rather than any actual interest in the work. Whenever I returned back from exploring there would be multiple members of staff smoking on the front stoop, despite signs telling guests to do otherwise. I stayed in room 2... More

The hostel was clean and very safe. The location was quite and had convenient public access. Staffs were very friendly and helpful, and they organized lots of fun events. The hostel had a great kitchen area and also a common area for movies and chilling. It was really easy to make new friends there.

Great location. Literally next to hyde park and very safe area. No elevator, so make sure you pack light! Right next to the museum and a couple minute walk from the tube station. They have a nice little office and kitchen as well .

For the price, this hostel is pretty darn good. Clean hygeine, friendly staff, 1 pound breakfast with proceeds going to charity, and situated near everything. Each bed has a safe compartment at the bottom which you could deposit your bag in, and you could secure it with a padlock. Padlock is free with a 5 quid refundable deposit.

Staying in South Kensington

Neighborhood Profile
South Kensington
With its ivied mews, row upon row of Poppins-esque white washed mansions, and placid garden squares, it's easy to see the charms of South Kensington. And with superb access to Hyde Park, Holland Park and Kensington Gardens, as well as the largely child-friendly and mostly free Museum Quarter (not to mention more major attractions like Royal Albert Hall) such charms are easy to make the most of. As welcoming and cosmopolitan as it is reserved and residential, South Kensington is always a hit with visitors.
