Astor Hyde Park Hostel is located in a beautiful part of London. Some restaurants close by were a bit expensive because it was such a nice area but there were still enough budget places around too. Tube stations were within a 10 minute walk so everything was accessible. We had two bunks in a 10 bed dorm and the room... More

Getting to the hostel seems like a trek and a half. Until you realise there are buses that are just a couple of minutes walk that will take you anywhere. The hostel is adjacent to Hyde Park, and in the centre of the city area. The area in itself is safe, high class and lovely to be in. Be prepared... More

I was in London for some research work, and this hostel was just around the corner from one of the archives I needed to visit. I've not stayed in London hostels before, but this one ranks favourably next to ones across the rest of the UK and Europe. I stayed in a six bed en suite room. It is in... More

My partner and I stayed here for 3 nights in a 4 bed dorm room. The fan in the room was much appreciated, the staff are friendly, stable wifi, comfortable bed, secure luggage storage, safe location and a good 1 pound breakfast. My partner and I found it a great place to sleep while we explored London and the surrounds.... More

Pros: * In a nice neighbourhood * Close to South Kensington high street * Friendly staff * Affordable * Option of a pound £1 breakfast where the money goes to charity * Affordable Cons: * Far from the tube / especially annoying if you need to get to paddington to get to the airport. * Room number 2 has a... I stayed in this hostel with a tour group. It is in a very safe neighborhood and we never felt in danger. However, it is far from the city center and even restaurants and bars. It is only 10 minute walk to tube station though, so it depends what it is important to you. Hostel itself is pretty average. Room... More

I stayed at the Astor Hyde Park hostel for two nights early this month (July 2015). The hostel is located in a very posh area however the location has a lot of negatives. Firstly, the hostel is very far from both the tube stations ( 20 min walk from South Kensington and 15-20 min walk from Gloucestor road). It is... More

Staff was very nice and helpful. Good location. Pleasant atmosphere. Wifi works all the time. Spacious kitchen and lounge room. Comfortable bunk beds. Hostel always organizes activities for the visitors. Highly recommend.

I've stayed from 29 June-3 July and had a wonderful stay. It's simply value for money. Best things were their staff. They attended to any maintenance issues asap, e.g. flickering bathroom lighting fixture in Room 36 and have organized activities daily. I have enjoyed the Thursday movie night featuring Kingsmen. Guests have come from all over the world and so... More

My stay here was very pleasant. I stayed in a 6 room mix room and didn't have any issues. Breakfast was only a 1 pound donation but I'd recommend buying your own items to have more variety. Probably the worst complaint I have about this place are the stairs. Oh my, those were a beast but required since there isn't... More

Staying in South Kensington

Neighborhood Profile
South Kensington
With its ivied mews, row upon row of Poppins-esque white washed mansions, and placid garden squares, it's easy to see the charms of South Kensington. And with superb access to Hyde Park, Holland Park and Kensington Gardens, as well as the largely child-friendly and mostly free Museum Quarter (not to mention more major attractions like Royal Albert Hall) such charms are easy to make the most of. As welcoming and cosmopolitan as it is reserved and residential, South Kensington is always a hit with visitors.
