Best way to phrase this is you *nearly* get what you pay for. We paid £14 each (2 of us) a night for 2 nights in the 8 bed dorm. Based on this we weren't expecting luxury. One issue was that, being on the top bunk, there was no ladder up- took a bit of clambering. Also, given 8 beds,... More

This hostel is cheaply priced for London, and located a 5-10 minute walk from Bayswater tube station. I stayed in a seven bed dorm on the top floor (not good for those who dislike climbing lots of stairs). Free wifi in the common room but this doesn't reach the bedrooms. The wall art is cool but overall the place is... More

Great location, quite nice and helpfull stuff. Free wi-fi. It is kept clean. Just the bunk beds are a bit wonky and no stable. It is that kind of hostel where you find long term living guests, so it can be a bit messy in the room. I have been in female dorm and the roommates were cool, just a... More

the hostel smells bad, you can see paint scraps off everywhere, and there are no intension to fix it, moles and moisture bubbles are all over the bathroom. The bathroom smells quiet bad. The beds look clean but you got bed bugs and unfortunately I am also having really bad allergic reaction from their bedsheet and duvet so I think they... More

My stay at Central Hostel was positive overall, though left me with some conflicting emotions. The best parts of the hostel are obvious: great location, and outstanding price. It is kept clean, and has an adequate kitchen. It can get busy around meal times, but if you are patient you can save a few pounds preparing something vs eating out.... More

when i went the price was 7 pounds, and it was summer, so for that amount of money at that time of the year you might figure out that you won't find a 5 stars hotel there. Rooms are ok, bathrooms were mixed and shared but also ok. Location is supercentral, and for that and for travelers on a budget... More

Rudest staff I've ever encountered (both reception and cleaning staff) by far. Stale breakfast food. No accountability. Only takes cash. Relatively close to the Tube and in a pretty quiet neighborhood. Charge for luggage storage during the day. Staircases were so small (wide but small) that I couldn't even fit my whole foot on a step facing forward (and I... More

For the price we payed and the location the hostel was in, we got our moneys worth. The cleanliness was poor and the everything was cramped closely together. The staff were not too friendly and the 'common' room was a bit nerve racking every time we walked through it. However, the location is key with the hostel being a 2minute... More

Not very clean. In our room there was a separated by curtain place with shower, but there was no shower head. Lady at reception told us that they will repair it quickly, but they didn't till we've left (3 days). Beds and matresses are old and uncomfortable. However, it's cheap and near underground station - these are only pros of... More

I have been traveling for 4 months now across most one Europe including the east and the Baltic States and I have to say this is the worst hostel I have ever been to. The staff are absolutely disgustingly rude to the point of bullying, the rooms are filled with mould dirt and rubbish the beds are filthy and sheets... More

Staying in Notting Hill

Neighborhood Profile
Notting Hill
As West London's friskiest corner, Notting Hill more than manages to retain plenty of the same appeal that's brought the affluent area so much worldwide attention. In this attractive cobblestoned neighborhood, a delectable variety of eateries, independent shops, galleries and street vendors offer a delightful window into how to live the good life in London, with each presenting visitors with an experience that's a little more idiosyncratic and endearing than the last. Travelers looking to forage for antiques should be sure to visit the Portobello Road Market on Saturdays, the largest antiques market in the United Kingdom.
