I booked this hotel as I was studying at the University of East London up the road on a part time, two year course. The hotel price was very reasonable which was a worry as I was concerned that the hotel would not be suitable. But I was pleasantly surprised and relieved and will continue to book this hotel for... The area was run down, there were no decent local restaurants, there were no sites or shops worth visiting nearby, and the hotel was in the center of this nondescript area. The Viking was noisy, rundown and not clean; its rooms had worn carpeting, needed painting, had damaged walls, junk piled in the dining area, and not enough electrical receptacles... More

Room smelt of weed. They offered to move us but did not have another pair of rooms together. Provided air freshener. Linen and towels clean but room overall a bit grubby and tired. It was cheap and convenient so as you would expect. Breakfast very good and staff helpful

room wasn't very clean, a lot of noise from other people in the hotel in a good location but as i said you get what you pay for cheap and not so cheerful, if i came to this area again to stay the night and i was on my own i wouldn't stay here let alone with anyone else.

Came here to visit universities in the local area and if course had a night out in London the staff were still happy to see us even at 3 in the morning and the room was bigger than expected and car park very secure. Great hotel for a night or 2 :)

We booked this hotel for NYE 2015 on 20th October 2015. Initially it seemed great, reviews were good, location was good and the price was good so how could I complain! We placed the booking, paid for it, job done. However, on 3rd December 2015 I received an email to say that the hotel was overbooked and that they had... More

First room wasn't made, so we got another for 4 persons instead of 3. One of the beds were worn out, with a big hole in the middle - but we used only 3 beds, so no need for complaining. Staff was informed after our stay. The hotel itself is a little old and worn, but is close to Stanford... More

Good location for Excel, only 15 minutes walking to Stradford station and mall! Pro: beds, bathroom and breakfast. Con: dirty room Conclusion: it is a good choice for those who are travelling to Excel for a fair rate!
