After I got past the unwelcoming foyer and long reception queue (auto check-ins all out if order), the room was rather spacious and the bed very comfortable. The flimsy plastic cups (no glasses) and horrible soap dispensers plus lack of closed in wardrobe and no hair dryers really detract from the whole experience though. Very expensive for an overall poor... More

This travelodge is 50 yards from Southwark tube station and a short walk away from Waterloo is one direction and the Shard at London Bridge in the other. Amongst the attractions nearby are plenty of convenience stores, pubs and restaurants. All rooms are bright and clean and are very well maintained. Yes this is a budget hotel and is no... More

You pay for what you get - convenient location, good value, no added extras, nothing fancy just a clean comfortable room for the night which was all we needed! The entrance wasn't overly welcoming, in fact it wasn't obvious that it was an entrance but once you found reception they were perfectly pleasant and helpful.

Stayed for 4 nights and had a lovely stay . Room clean, staff very helpful and brilliant location . Within easy walking distance of Borough market and central London. Only a small niggle - no socket near a mirror ( luckily had brought one). Really enjoyed our stay.

I stayed here for two nights in a family room for 3 adults, hotel was ideally situated 2 mins from tube station and walking distance from Waterloo and London bridge. Hotel was a little worn and carpets looked dirty in corridors, there was a slight feisty smell in room at times but bathroom and beds all appeared very clean. They... More

I stayed here with my daughters last weekend. The hotel is very conveniently situated beside the Southwark tube station and a short walk from the south bank. The staff are fabulous - nothing is too much trouble for them and they are always pleasant and helpful. Highly recommended.

very comfortable stay, great location for Southwark tube and/or Blackfriars mainline train station. Easy walk to Southbank for huge variety of restaurants plus activity. Room was quiet and comfy. Breakfast was very good. Staff friendly and helpful

We stayed here with our 9 year old daughter just for one night. This was a really cheap price for such a central location. It was very close to the southwark tube so very handy for exploring the area. This wasn't as good as other travelodge a we have stayed in, the room smelt a little fusty and when other... More

Although close to railway line the hotel was quiet and comfortable, the staff helpful, but the every noisy flush of the toilet and the high cost of a midweek overnight stay were the only complaints. The location was excellent as we had a wedding nearby, but as it is the centre of London the price was a good deal more than I would normally... We stayed at Travelodge Southwark in London. Everything was functional and they main bed is as comfy as they advertise - the pullout bed for me, needed a new mattress. The hotel was generally clean and in good order - some areas not as inviting as could be (a bit sterile in appearance). However, couldn't complain for the money we... More

Staying in Southwark

Neighborhood Profile
Southwark
Even before the arrival of the instantly iconic Shard, the riverside scene in Southwark had moved well beyond any up-and-coming phase of development. For quite some time, locals and out-of-towners alike have loved browsing the boutiques of Bermondsey High Street, foraging through the bounteous stalls at centuries old foodie haven Borough Market, and flocking to the banks of the Thames to enjoy some of Britain's biggest attractions such as Tate Modern and Shakespeare's Globe. Despite Southwark's many popular draws, instant calm can be achieved easily by turning down almost any side street. For more urban buzz, a quick stroll across famed bridges like the pedestrianized Millennium Bridge or the ever photogenic Tower Bridge yields access to the very core of Central London. And with London Bridge Station as this neighborhood's main transportation hub, getting across town (or to anywhere in England for that matter) is a relative breeze.
