My husband & I have just spent 4 nights at this hotel. Before arriving my husband requested a high level room with a view of the Shard & his wish was granted. The hotel us a 5 minute stroll from the tube station at Southwark & approx 10 minute walk from Waterloo. It was central for the London Eye &... More

Handily placed not far from Southwark tube,on a fairly quiet street, near Old Vic, Tate Modern etc., and seemingly recently refurbished, bright but basic rooms at a reasonable price. Family room was a good size, the double smaller but very comfortable beds. Wish there could have been a landline in the rooms, but you can't have everything at that price. Friendly... More

The service was polite and friendly. Our room was clean, warm and comfortable. It was ideally situated for us as the underground was a two minute walk away. We did not eat at the travelodge, but it was excellent for a night cap as the bar is open twenty four hours. Probably the only thing I would say I would... More

Stayed here on a Saturday night while in London for a rugby match. Checkin quick and easy. Room was clean and the king size bed was very comfortable. Good bathroom with comfortable shower. We didn't eat there. Location is brilliant 25 minutes walk along Thames path to London eye. Only complaint would be the patchy wifi in the room which... More

Exceptionally large room with superb breakfast for the meagre price paid. The hotel was clean, tidy and all staff were pleasant and helpful. Ideally located for Southwark tube and a short walk to Borough market, bars and restaurants.

Stayed here for one night with my wife while visiting our son nearby. Reasonably priced for London, and not too far from the tube. Travelodge are having trouble keeping up with Premier Inn, and have to charge less. The decor is rather stark and unappealing with a poor choice of colours and materials. The pull out bed had a nylon... More

When booking this hotel we were very pleasently surprised at the price given that it was so close to Waterloo Station. (I lived in Blackfriars Road for 22 years). It is well placed for access to the Embankment, Central London and lots of Tourist Sites. The hotel was more than adequate although we had to change rooms as soon as... More

Very happy with our experience at Southwark Travelodge in January. Clean, tidy and comfortable for one or two nights stay. Close to eateries and London underground and very central to get to most of the sights

We have stayed at this hotel two years running. It is ideally placed near to the tube station and ideal for a comfortable stopover. The rooms are clean and offer plenty of space. The hotel staff are friendly and at £7.95 for a full breakfast you can't go wrong. This hotel is our ideal location for a weekend break in... More

We stayed in the hotel for 8 nights and we were very happy with our stay. The room was clean and we were given a big room because we had a lot of suitcases. The staff was also very polite and helpful. The hotel was also very near to the tube.

Staying in Southwark

Neighborhood Profile
Even before the arrival of the instantly iconic Shard, the riverside scene in Southwark had moved well beyond any up-and-coming phase of development. For quite some time, locals and out-of-towners alike have loved browsing the boutiques of Bermondsey High Street, foraging through the bounteous stalls at centuries old foodie haven Borough Market, and flocking to the banks of the Thames to enjoy some of Britain's biggest attractions such as Tate Modern and Shakespeare's Globe. Despite Southwark's many popular draws, instant calm can be achieved easily by turning down almost any side street. For more urban buzz, a quick stroll across famed bridges like the pedestrianized Millennium Bridge or the ever photogenic Tower Bridge yields access to the very core of Central London. And with London Bridge Station as this neighborhood's main transportation hub, getting across town (or to anywhere in England for that matter) is a relative breeze.
