stayed here for two nights with my daughter and my parents who are quite elderly. The receptionist took care to put us in next door rooms which was nice. The rooms were comfortable and bed linen was fresh and clean. Bathroom was nice and clean. Shame there wasn't a hairdryer in the room but I think you can probably hire... More

Not the most aesthetic externally, but this hotel makes up for that in excellent customer service and location, giving excellent value for money. My 2 young children and I stayed 1 night and booked early checkin. On arrival (11:40) the reception staff immediately sorted our room and were genuine and absolutely helpful with a good rapport. The reception area is... More

+ Excellent location, basic rooms, and overall great value for money. - Uncomfortable pillows, and there was still rubbish from the previous guest under the bed. Some guests might not like the trains passing by, though this did not bother me.

It is a very good located hotel - 3 min walk from the tube station. Rooms are very clean and there is daily room service. Staff very professional and willing to help. Room equipped with air conditioning unit but located almost under your bed so it is not comfortable during the night. Windows are fixed and existing ventilation system is... More

As bases go, this hotel is in a great location. The room was very basic but as somewhere to crash is ideal. The rooms were clean and well presented. The problem we had was that as a family of 5 I had contacted the hotel 2 times prior to visit asking for rooms next to each other and also arrived... More

Really convenient for Southwark rail/Underground. Lots of places to eat nearby. Carlo's next door is great for breakfast. The room was clean and very comfortable. Wish some parents would teach their children that running along a corridor shouting and yelling either very early in the morning or late at night and banging doors is not acceptable!! The bar/café wasn't very... More

There was no hot water for one night, I was informed I would be refunded for this night and this did not take place. Broken power sockets, lights did not work (reported but not fixed) and poor breakfast choice

The location is great, just 10-15 minutes walk to the River and all it holds ie Tate Modern, Globe Theatre, The Wheel etc. There are also a couple of great places for breakfast and picking up take-away food ie Carlos next door and the theatre in the arches next door to that, all the staff being great.. The staff at... More

I stayed a week on my own whilst attending a course. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. I slept peacefully each night in a clean and comfortable bed. This Travelodge is far superior in terms of a bed comfort and cleanliness to other more expensive London hotels I have stayed at. I chose this hotel because of its location... More

The Travelodge Southwark is easy to reach via underground station Southwark. The room we stayed in was clean and calm. Opposite our room were offices only. We had some trouble with the air conditioning - the air came out cold straight on the king size bed. But we needed it on so the two teenagers on their beds also got... More

Staying in Southwark

Neighborhood Profile
Southwark
Even before the arrival of the instantly iconic Shard, the riverside scene in Southwark had moved well beyond any up-and-coming phase of development. For quite some time, locals and out-of-towners alike have loved browsing the boutiques of Bermondsey High Street, foraging through the bounteous stalls at centuries old foodie haven Borough Market, and flocking to the banks of the Thames to enjoy some of Britain's biggest attractions such as Tate Modern and Shakespeare's Globe. Despite Southwark's many popular draws, instant calm can be achieved easily by turning down almost any side street. For more urban buzz, a quick stroll across famed bridges like the pedestrianized Millennium Bridge or the ever photogenic Tower Bridge yields access to the very core of Central London. And with London Bridge Station as this neighborhood's main transportation hub, getting across town (or to anywhere in England for that matter) is a relative breeze.
