Booked this for myself and the hubby as we had tickets for Wicked One eve and Fleetwood Mac at the O2 the following night- this was slap bang in the middle! It's really conveniently located as only a 30 second walk from Southwark tube and then 10-15 mins by tube to either venue. The room itself was exactly what I... More

Read other reviews so rang day before our stay and the female receptionist booked us into room 606, on the east side, facing Shard and railway lines. Staff friendly and welcoming. Lovely modern big room with only gentle rumble of trains passing by, though not during night or early morning. New really comfy bed, though I found pillows a bit... More

We booked this hotel for our family which consisted of two adults and two children as they were visiting the museums and other attractions. They said this hotel was absolutely amazing. It was clean and tidy and the staff were all very friendly and very helpful. It is nice when staff take the extra effort to interact with children. Even... More

We were already booked to stay in London over the bank holiday weekend, but decided at the last minute to go up the night before and as we stayed here before we knew it was right on top of waterloo and only a 1 minute walk to southwalk. The price was reasonable for a friday night, and the room was... More

We often travel to London for sightseeing purposes & as the Travelodge hotels are reasonably priced for the amount of time you actually spend in them, we often book these. The TravelodgeSouthwark is by far the best Travelodge I've stayed in in London. Clean, recently refurbished and comfortable. Yes, our room overlooked the railway line but we only heard the... More

It's not fancy but it's clean, inexpensive, and nicely located. Rooms on the center courtyard don't have any view BUT they're quiet as a tomb, so if you're looking to catch up on sleep after a long day of London adventures, this is ideal.

This was apparently the last room under £300 left in "Central" London during the Chelsea Flower Show, and as it was booked for me through work I took a chance on it. How wrong I was! Next time I will know to make the extra 5 minute tube ride to a better budget hotel - the Premier Inn in Hammersmith,... More

Standard travel lodge set up, so head to reception of you need an iron, hair dryer etc. A bit of a pain but for the price you can't complain. Clean, comfy, quiet and very central. Bonus this travel lodge does have a bag store, so handy if you don't want to lug your bags around london on check out day.... More

Stayed at this hotel as we were going to the o2, it is very easy to get there from here and is also in an interesting and redeveloped part of the city, also within easy walking distance of the South Bank. The hotel is clean, check in was quick and easy, the room even had a great view of the... More

The staff here are great and value is typically good for a London location. The hot breakfast that can be added in the stay was great - with a wide range of cold options. A great start to the day! My gripe here are the beds - not comfortable in the least. I had two separate rooms over two nights... More

Staying in Southwark

Neighborhood Profile
Southwark
Even before the arrival of the instantly iconic Shard, the riverside scene in Southwark had moved well beyond any up-and-coming phase of development. For quite some time, locals and out-of-towners alike have loved browsing the boutiques of Bermondsey High Street, foraging through the bounteous stalls at centuries old foodie haven Borough Market, and flocking to the banks of the Thames to enjoy some of Britain's biggest attractions such as Tate Modern and Shakespeare's Globe. Despite Southwark's many popular draws, instant calm can be achieved easily by turning down almost any side street. For more urban buzz, a quick stroll across famed bridges like the pedestrianized Millennium Bridge or the ever photogenic Tower Bridge yields access to the very core of Central London. And with London Bridge Station as this neighborhood's main transportation hub, getting across town (or to anywhere in England for that matter) is a relative breeze.
