Booked a two bedroom apartment online from Australia. Arrived and initially went to the wrong hotel reception because of poor signage. Reception was a windowless room on level 1. We were met by two men sitting in the foyer. We were too early to check in, but they let us as the apartment was vacant - this was good after... More

This is by all means a strange place. There is no reception, only a very small windowless "office" in one of the buildings, no uniforms, signs or anything else implying this is a hotel. Maybe the buildings were erected as apartments and went bankrupt, I cannot tell, but they don't look like a hotel. No vending machines, no air condition,... More

Booked a hotel thru hotels.com and got screwed over on their booking system, so I had to find something fast that was within the area and Hotels.com said this was a 4.0 / 5.0 rated hotel and it was within walking distance from my original booking so I thought why not. When I arrived, I was greeted by two men... More

Apartment is fine. Helpful service getting to the room. Noisy neighbours ignored. Apparently there is a three complaint rule and the police will be called to evict noisy neighbours. Now deciding after the fourth complaint across five hours whether to call the police myself. Really unimpressed and this place should be avoided at all cost. Especially for a family trip.

A cross between a prison and a cheap office space. No soft furnishings or curtains. Broken office blinds that didn't keep any sun out. Had the feeling that things get stolen because very few movable items. Great space. Bathrooms good but whole place very depressing when you are meant to be enjoying yourself. Would never stay there again. Staff friendly.... More

We stayed at Tower Bridge Apartments on Roper Lane in July in a studio apartment. The location was prefect, the room extremely clean and tidy, (although a little smaller than we had thought it would be) and the customer service absolutely fantastic!! The weekend we visited London, the wether was unusually and exceptionally HOT and unfortunately, the room we stayed... More

Location is pretty good, not that close to the tube but a fairly easy flat walk to London Bridge Tube. Buses out the front and not hard to walk over Tower Bridge either. The apartment was clean EXCEPT for the mould in the shower. It is one of those plastic shower units and the mould is in the silicon seals,... More

Location: it takes ~15 mins walk from London Bridge Station where you can go to the Borough Market, Tesco Metro, M&S Food with walking distance. 5-8 mins walk to Tower Bridge though. 5 mins walk to Maltby Street Market. A bus station stop is just outside the apartment building. The 1-bedroom apartment comes with a well-equipped open kitchen. Living room,... More

I booked this hotel in a rush, when my usual accommodation choice was full. After booking, I read the reviews and started to regret my choice. However, I was most pleasantly surprised when I turned up. Yes, this is not your normal hotel. There is no formal reception/bar area, just a small office room, but the staff were friendly and... This is advertised as a 4 star 'luxury' accomodation . It is scruffy, shoddy and furniture is cheap and broken , nothing like the advertised picture on the website Areas were unclean and half completed. Patio doors were broken, the 'city view' consisted of back walls and dustbins, the room was unbearably hot with an old fan was provided that... More

Staying in Southwark

Neighborhood Profile
Southwark
Even before the arrival of the instantly iconic Shard, the riverside scene in Southwark had moved well beyond any up-and-coming phase of development. For quite some time, locals and out-of-towners alike have loved browsing the boutiques of Bermondsey High Street, foraging through the bounteous stalls at centuries old foodie haven Borough Market, and flocking to the banks of the Thames to enjoy some of Britain's biggest attractions such as Tate Modern and Shakespeare's Globe. Despite Southwark's many popular draws, instant calm can be achieved easily by turning down almost any side street. For more urban buzz, a quick stroll across famed bridges like the pedestrianized Millennium Bridge or the ever photogenic Tower Bridge yields access to the very core of Central London. And with London Bridge Station as this neighborhood's main transportation hub, getting across town (or to anywhere in England for that matter) is a relative breeze.
