We had a wonderful weekend in St Paul's. We had been warned that it could be noisy due to a nearby club but I have to say it did not interfere with our sleep. The bar/hotel is very accessible from the Barbican underground station which made visits to other parts of the city painfree. A little oasis just up the... More

Cozy pub, lots of history, friendly & efficient staff .... but £16 for average fish and only 6 chips?! Please! (To their credit, after trying to explain that the chips were slightly bigger than normal, the staff wasted no time in bringing 6 more :-))

I used to regularly pop into the Fox after weekly meetings in the area, it has been a few years since I've been and when I found myself close by recently I decided to swing by. I've always found the bar comfortable and welcoming with lots of little nooks to hide away in and enjoy a pint or some always... More

popped in for a drink last month before a meal at the Mal next door, served by a very surly barman, who, when asked what Lagers were on tap, received a reply of 'Can't you read!', needless to say we left and had a drink at the Mal. previously a regular at weekends, but will take my custom elsewhere!

This is a great pub, with a genuine Art Nouveau facade and a warm, cosy interior full of character. Good beers and lovely food at a reasonable price. Friendly and attentive service. Highly recommended.

I stayed here for two nights, night before and night of our wedding. The suite is incredible - very tastefully decorated, plenty of space and an outdoor terrace. The bath room is beautiful - treating myself to a bubble bath in the copper tub the night before was a great experience. The staff were very friendly and helpful (even let... More

Always the number one place to stay when in London. Have stayed a number of times and the service and quality remains as high as ever, food and pub first class. Would recommend, Sandro and the staff run a great place.

Good beer, good food, good service and a great place to stop for lunch! (May 2013) We did not stay in the B&B. The whole place has such a lovely olde world feel to it. This area of London is very charming and historic so when you're out and about seeing the Smithfields Market or the Old Bailey just around... More

City boy breakfast, full English plus (liver and kidney), most places have one sausage here it's two. A pint of stout is included in the price. Wouldn't normally drink at 9:30 in the morning but you need it with the amount of meat on your plate, Definitely recommend this.

Whilst the service at the bar was adequate for a central London pub, check your change, it may not be quite what you you thought. The barman quoted one price but gave change equating to a different price. No redress from management. Not a good experience. I live in London and expect better.

Good afternoon, Firstly, let me apologise once more for this misunderstanding, as I did directly to your email. I clearly attached a copy of your drinks bill, which showed the amount charged by the barman to be correct, showing that it was nothing more cynical than an innocent mistake. As for the redress, I was prompt enough to answer your... More

Staying in Clerkenwell

Neighborhood Profile
Clerkenwell
Owing to its proximity to Smithfield Market – the site of an ancient meat market which remains in operation today – Clerkenwell boasts a plethora of globally renowned restaurants, fabulous local eateries, and some of London's favorite pubs. This isn't merely a focal point for all things foodie though. Spend enough time wondering through the area's maze of streets and you might become accustomed to the litany of slinky models passing between Clerkenwell's handful of fashion houses. Far outnumbering the models are craftspeople and designers, many of them are more than happy to welcome visitors into their studios and showrooms.
