We stayed at this hotel last year as a weekend break whilst visiting family. We arrived and tried to check in but found only one member of staff on the bar - who couldn't therefore see us to our room. "So, we'll have a drink whilst we wait...", we thought - no such luck! "No beer" we were told. Eventually... more

Where should I start? Found myself in a bit of a jam, the place I was staying was over booked. Walked into this place and asked for a room for the night, before I go on the word sorry was used the most I had heard since my ex wife listened to me after I'd gone walk about to South... more

To call this a 'boutique hotel' is to promote it way beyond its worth. It is 'rooms above a pub'. The address promised much - near the cathedrals, in the 'Georgian Quarter' and part of a gastro-pub which had been recommended. The young staff did their best but it was obvious that they were students doing bar work rather than... more

First the (very few) good things: - friendly good heating in the room - well washed, well ironed, sweet smelling sheets - four pillows Now the bad - tiny room, just enough room for a double bed - cheap mass produced furniture in white melamine - no-door wardrobe which was just two feet wide, hardly enough room for my clothes... more

The room at the Blackburne Arms was well and tastefully furnished with a good sized bathroom. The bed was very comfortable and very clean. The only down side was that, although I had paid for bed and breakfast, there was not only no breakfast, there was no tea/coffee, juice or even some stale toast. more

It's a nice old building, in a good location (Toxteth). The beer is excellent. Thefood is good, but expensive and badly served - we were kept waiting while people who had arrived later than us got their dinners, and even then we did not get what we'd ordered. The mainp roblem is the landlord. Unbelievably rude, aggressive and nasty. I... more

My work sees me bringing lots of guests to Liverpool, so I make it my business to check out every new hotel by staying overnight, regardless of the fact that it might be round the corner from my house - as was the case with the Blackburne Arms Hotel. Calling it a hotel might be over-stating things: it's really an... more
