We had a last minute event in Liverpool and needed a hotel in a central location. My colleague suggested the Lord Nelson as he had stayed there before and said it was ideal. We arrived and were greeted by a lovely team of receptionists and the check in was very smooth. There was a great business environment as a networking... more

The location of this hotel is ideal in Liverpool. Within walking distance of Lime Street train station you can walk everywhere in town. This place has everything you should epect from this kind of hotel and provides good value for money. Decoration is simple but rooms are clean. There are two bars inside the hotel and a little coffe shop.... more

as a group of 7 girls after walking out of our booked hostel (53 everton road which was absolutly disgusting and was in the "roughest part of the city "!!) we came across the lord nelson. it looked shabby on the outside but not as bad on the inside. the cost for a family room and two twin rooms was... more

Knowing the area that this hotel is in, we werent expecting luxury....but this hotel is the pits. Couldnt hear what the guy at reception was saying with the noise from the bar and the drunken girls arguing in the lobby... The room was terrible, filthy curtains...almost afraid to touch them they were that bad. The handbasin was in the bedroom,... more

I was quite happy with my stay after being a bit worried by the reports I had read on TA. But I cant understand why the managment accepts such poor levels of cleanliness. Just because the carpets are really old doesn't mean you dont need to vacuum them!! My room was fine and acceptable for the price but the carpet... more

We were extremely worried after reading the comments about the hotel. We were relieved to find a room with clean sheets, hot water in the bathroom and the radiator in the room working (but not the one in the bathroom…). The beds were not comfortable. During our 4 nights' stay the room was not cleaned, the towels not changed and... more

Always looking for a human approach, when I travl I really enjoyed this place, where the night auditor, the director and his assistant were always smiley, very friendly and gave me plently of good suggestions. Rooms need renovation but you can feel the effort in everything they do. Will chose it again as I will go back to liverpool. more

We visited the Lord Nelson recently and wouldn't do so again. Although this hotel is ideally located right next to Liverpool Lime Street station (and you can't hear any station/train noise) it most definitely should be viewed as a budget hotel (£40 each a night) whose clientele seemed to be aimed at football fans. There is evidence of some recent... more

I booked a "standard double room" via lastminute.com for £60. After i booked it i came on here to have a look at the reviews and i nearly died!! I couldnt believe i hadnt read the reviews before i booked! I rang the hotel in desperation and asked them if it was as bad as the descriptions on here. The... more

Room had no shower, just a dirty old bath with no hot water. No TV. No hairdryer and none available. Dirty sheets, dirty matress, dirty floor, dirty walls, dirty cups in room. Window wouldn't shut properly - constant draft in room. Room right beside noisy antiquated lift which kept us awake all night. Constant noise from drunkards in corridors all... more
