Only good thing was location - lifts unsafe, inadequate and out of order for most of weekend, room v small and bathroom horrible, carpets (especially in corridors and on stairs) badly stained, frayed and lifted in places, some staff rude, general level of cleanliness very poor. Breakfast facilities totally inadequate and food very poor.

For our Golf weekend we decided to base ourselves in the Adelphi Hotel in Liverpool. The Hotel is very grand from the outside and still has some grandeur on the inside. I stayed on the 6th floor the little round windows you can see at the front top floor. My room was spacious clean and more than adequate - certainly... More

Stayed there April this year The staff were very rude and unhelpful the hotel is rundown and needs refurbished the meals are like a holiday camp. On complaining on their website they never responded I complained again and the issues I had were not addressed. Overall not a good place to stay.

Took 50 mins to check in, 25 mins to find room with no help from the staff. Lifts kept breaking down - too many stairs. Cheap & nasty coffee & tea in both the rooms and the restaurants. Will never stay here again! Pity really, could have been better...ruined by Britannia Group

On approach, the building is in the grand 1920s style with a grand lobby and imposing stair case. And thats where it ends! check took a frustrating 45 mins to get checked in then we tried the lifts, if your claustrophobic do not use them. The room is the size of a cleaning cupboard with the bed wedged against the... More

On arrival the reception hall was both grand and tired-looking looking at the same time. At check-in the staff behaved as if I wasn't there - not a great first impression. My room was not bad - the bed was good, flat-screen TV, bathroom acceptable, but the furniture - the dressing table reminded me of one that my grandmother had... More

Stayed here twice this year on official trips so we had no choice. All around it's pretty dire. Booking in both times was disastrous - took over an hour each time due to long queues, too few reception staff and crashing computers. First time they couldn't find our booking despite us providing the booking reference. All lifts stopped working so... More

We booked the Adelphi a week before we were due to arrive, as a last minute trip. When looking at the prices, we were amazed to see that it beat other hotels such as Travelodge and Premier Inn for affordability, so swiftly booked for two nights. On arrival, the hotel looks beautiful. It is as if you are stepping back... More

Many different opinion. Many rooms in different quality, maybe. I lived in second floor. All the floor was smelling bad. The room more. The flusher was bad. The wifi too. Please, avoid the breakfast. On the other hand staff was very kind and helpful as well as the position.

Stayed here last month during a very busy bank holiday weekend. Great location but that's about it. Some reviewers have used the term "old world charm" to describe the hotel. I would say more like "third world charm". The rooms are warn and tired - bathroom "tile" peeling off, holes in the walls, water stains, dripping faucets. I could feel... More
