I booked a stay in the hotel for September 2 months ago. Usually I take my time in choosing a hotel and looking at the reviews but on this occasion, I went by the pictures both on the hotel's website and Booking.com (which is the company I booked through) which actually looked reasonable for the price and location of the... After booking the duke william for a 1 night stay we weren't expecting great things after reading reviews and we weren't disappointed. On arrival we were shown up to our room which could only be described as a grimy mish mash of a place. It was full of old mis matched furniture with dirt and grime everywhere. The beds had... More

We arrived early and sat outside in the car as the 'front door' was locked. Much later, we discovered that the Reception entrance was about 5 mins walk away round the back. There was no notice at the front to this effect. During the whole of our stay, we only met one member of staff, who admittedly was very pleasant... More

Luke and partner where pleasant but I feel this establishment needs someone to lift it out of its tiredness . Management could wield a paintbrush , remove old light fitments , and generally give it some love. It's a beautifully old building and you except creaky , wandering passageways. Make the most of what you have. Time and effort and... More

This is not a proper hotel. This could be lovely but is not. We stayed one night, there was no hot running water, there were no shower gels/shampoo, there was no hairdryer. The plug sockets were dangerously overloaded, the hotel lacked privacy and the quality of the fixtures and fittings was intolerably bad. It wasn't particularly dirty but incredibly scruffy.... More

What a dirty place. We stayed in the family room with a double and single. The double bed was a "put u up" and the legs gave way underneath if you didn't sit on it right. The single bed was very lumpy, both had seen better days. The carpets, horrible furniture and bathroom were ditched. If you can afford a... More

It was smelly, damp, the drawers were full of filth the carpet was filthy full of cigerate burns and sticky, I don't think the carpet had been hoovered for... More
