I stayed in the duke william hotel in December and was very surprised at the quality. after reading previous reviews i expected the place to be ashambles, however this was not the case. The rooms were extremely clean, the food lovely and the staff were falling over themselves to help me and the rest of my friends with anything we... more

I stayed at the Duke William on the last day of the Lincoln Market and was pleasantly surprised. The Hotel is in an ideal location for the market as it is directly on the doorstep. The building is itself very old and has a history and character all of its own quite inkeeping with the area, The room was very... more

My family and I had a meal in the restaurant here and we were disgusted by the lack of basic food hygiene. The cutlery was not clean; it was still covered in food residue. When I complained to the woman serving the food she then thought it acceptable to try and polish the cutlery on her apron. After a further... more

If this hotel wasn't a 5 minute walk to the Cathedral then it would be undoubtedly be closed by now. I stayed in room 7 and it was tired, tatty and depressing. Besides the location the staff were the only positive thing to comment on. The whole place reminded me of the dreadful B&Bs in Blackpool from the 1980s -... more

The service was at best appalling, when entering from the front of the building there was no one at the bar and no direction to the reception area, some locals drinking at the far end of the pub started shouting to inform the staff we were waiting. We followed the staff member through the tiny dining room to what could... more

Situated in the Cathedral Quarter, this Inn is close to main medieval attractions. Staff were pleasant and our room was acceptable, en-suite was small. BUT after visiting Cathedral we returned to a very cold room which despite the efforts of staff got no warmer. After our 4th or 5th request we were moved to a nicer warmer room. Dinner in... more

I arrived to a cluttered reception and spoke with a really nice girl there. She showed me to my room only to find that the room hadn't been made up, she returned to reception to get another key for a room that was made up....to her embarrassment and my amazement...that wasn't made up either. !!..I waited in the bar for... more

After reading previous reviews we were a bit apprehensive at staying here, but we were pleasantly suprised. The rooms were spotless, the staff were very helpful and the breakfast was very good. The hotel is in a great location for seeing Lincoln. Yes the floorboards do creek, but it is a very old building. Yes you can hear the pub... more

Dirty room, grubby linen, mouldy bathroom. My wife and I checked in as guests of a wedding reception at the hotel and spent about 15 minutes in the room listening to the noise of other guests depositing their waste products down their toilets and seemingly passing through our bathroom's pipework. The bathroom was too small for a amazonian pigmy and... more

I agree with some of the other reviews to a point but you have to look at the overall picture. Yes it could do with a bit of a re-furb but I found the most important things OK. The bed was comfortable with clean bed linen. Towels were plentyfull and clean. Plenty of handwash and shower gel. Breakfast was good... more
