We had DB&B at the offer price at £135 for two. If we had ignored the offer, we'd have paid £63 for the room and breakfast. The most expensive starter and main (for two) is £62.50. Not sure the cost of the desserts, but if £5 each, the total bill would be £135.50. So, a saving of 50 pence! That... more

The food in the restaurant was very good, including the breakfast. HOWEVER - we were placed in the attic room up a dangerously steep staircase. The room was cheaply furnished, basic and shoddy. Whilst we were aware the en-suite was on the floor below, we were certainly unaware as to the steepness of the staircase. It was very dangerous and... more

I would definately not recommend this as a quality accomodation option. It rides on the back of an extremely accomplished resteraunt, and the rooms should be upgraded to match the resteraunt if it is to be considered the'full monty'! There are touches of 'class', but not enough. The en-suite in our room just about ticked the boxes for actually being... more

The Old Bakery is very definitely a restaurant with rooms. The restaurant is excellent, and well worth going to. By comparison, the rooms are modest - as indeed is the price of them - so do not come expecting them to be luxurious. Indeed if you are not eating in the restaurant, I am not sure I would recommend that... more

It's interesting how different people's impressions and expectations are of places they stay in. I was clearly taken in my the look of the restaurant and the reviews and classification given to the place, and assumed that the rooms would be of a similar quality. The restaurant meal was excellent - and I would recommend it. The restaurant surroundings also... more

An up market B&B, thus facilities are limited. Rooms was more than decent & tremendous value. No parking. Having to use rear door a minor inconvenience. Free wi-fi. Where the Old Bakery comes into it's own is the qualaity of the restaurant. Breakfast v. good, but the dinner excellent. The tasting menu holds your interest through the nine courses. Servings... more

We have just returned from a most enjoyable overnight stay at The Old Bakery; wish it could have been for longer. The 'Special package ' of Dinner B& B for the two of us was, we think, excellent value. Our room (No 3 ) was lovely....plenty of room & thoughtful touches like home-made biscuits..delicious! Another plus was that the bathroom... more

We have stayed at the Old Bakery before and enjoyed it very much. We enjoyed our stay this time, too, but it seems to have lost a little sheen. We like our room fine (although would prefer sheets/blanket to the duvet, which is always too warm and leaving bare feet). However, there are a number of noticable points that could... more

We have just returned from a weekend stay at The Old Bakery. We stayed in Room 4, the attic room, located through a door painted to look like a bookcase and up some quite steep steps! Although the room was not huge, it had everything we required including an excellent tea and coffee tray with speciality teas and homemade biscuits,... more

What a great B&B. Personable host. Excellent breakfast. The location is exceptional too - in the old part of the city. 10 minute walk to the Cathedral. The dinner there too was fabulous. If you're a cheese lover I'd recommend an appetizer and a large cheese plate. Overall you can't do much better than this. more
