I LOVED this hotel, but there were too many niggling problems for a top rating. The location was perfect, the room in the converted church annex was stunning with its colored glass window, bathroom luxuries were in place, the gardens were green and peaceful, with views over the city. At the best of times the hotel is difficult to find,... More

I have to agree with many of the previous reviews in that the The Old Palace commands a wonderful spot in Lincoln, once you can find it. Our cab driver went round in circles trying to find how to get to the entrance. The key is to ask for The Bishops Palace... hurrah! our second cab driver found it. There... More

We made a last minute booking for 1 night. Despite checking-in very late in the evening, were made to feel welcome. Location is perfect for exploring the beautiful cathedral quarter including the castle and quaint shops in the area. The cathedral church bells ring several times an hour so isn't ideal if you want a lie-in. Room was small but... More

We stayed for one night in "The Suite" a room in a converted 19th century church which forms an annex to the hotel. The room is gigantic with a double height ceiling, huge church windows, a large canopy bed and an incredible bathroom with massive oak church doors. The whole thing has been done to a very high standard and... More

Just a single night fleeting business trip but the chef stayed to do a starter plus desert supper and the single room felt really special staff were all lovely and the views day and night are what you'd call impressive across the city perfect for the discerning traveller.

Thank you for your comments. The helpful manner of the chef on duty is exactly what we are aiming to promote within the business. I will now seek him out and pat him on the back. More

Took us ages to find driving round and round because there were NO signs...at all. Even on the hotel the sign was tiny and did not say 'hotel'! I did not pick this up from the website, although there are directions it should be more carefully pointed out, as to get there you have to drive on to a site... More

Thank you for your review. Directional signage to the hotel has always been a problem but finally, after three years of negotiations, planning permission has been agreed and signage will be in position at the end of the month - I am sure it will significantly ease the problems customers endure when trying to find us. Stayed here for my son's wedding reception. It was a fantastic location and the food was superb. The staff were very helpful and our room in the lodge was lovely. Looking through the windows during the reception we could see the beautiful cathedral which at night was illuminated and looked magical. A truly wonderful experience.

We decided to stay at The Old Palace, despite a few of the reviews. Easy to find following the directions downloaded from their website. It helps to know that this is a very un-hotel like hotel because it is still closely linked to the cathedral. There are very few signs - take the right had door into the Reception area... More
