Perfect location at the top of Steep Hill between the cathedral & the castle - firmly in the older part of Lincoln. Booked a suite and was surprised at the quality after reading comments on here I expected a hole! Yes the floor boards creaked a bit and yes I could smell food cooking on the way to the kitchen... more

Located nexted to Lincoln Cathedral and at the head of Steep Street the setting was perfect. We had a nice view of the Cathedral from our room. The old elevator was a nice touch. Breakfast was very good. The staff could have been a little more friendly but all in all it was a very good choice. Parking was convenient... more

I had to go to Lincoln for work and decided to take my wife with me so we could have a night away from the kids. The White Hart was easy to find and was wonderful. The welcoming staff were extremely helpful when we checked-in at 8pm and managed to get us a table for dinner in their excellent "Grille"... more

The reception and bar have been wonderfully decorated and are very welcoming, shame about the old tatty smelly corridors. We stayed on the third floor, which was quite a treck. During this treck at two intervals i had to hold my breath due to the musty, stale food smells. The floorboards also creaked loudly, which felt must have been disturbing... more

We stayed for one night and were distinctly underwhelmed. Reception and lobby bar were slick, but decor deteriorated as we progressed through the hotel. We checked in early and left our bags at reception. When we returned, the room was ready, but we had to lug two bags up two flights of stairs. We didn't expect liveried porters, but they... more

We stayed here last weekend, 7th - 9th August. Our first visit to Lincoln to visit friends. On entrance to the hotel you think 'wow' modern, sleek and new.... then through the doors, the lift was noisy and very old ... so much so we used the stairs... the stairs up to the first floor are carpeted sleekly and walls... more

Stayed here last night, hotel is ideally located, rooms are bit dated and very average, and in need of a good paint job for 140 quid!!! breakfast was nice but small choice and service was not good really. the toilet had a funny smell, bit like wee!!! staff said it was the spray they use, im not so sure as... more

The location of the hotel cannot be faulted in the uphill part of the city close to the castle and cathedral. There are eating places all around from Thai , Indian, Mexican, Italian and traditional English all within a five minute stroll. We have stayed at this hotel in the past and are aware that rooms within the hotel can... more

I stayed here with a colleague for one night in May 2009. At £120 for a twin room it was definately overpriced. Our room was very hot and dated with cheap beds, mattresses and decor. The corridors were in need of painting and updated furniture and decor if they are to continue to market this hotel under a 'boutique' billing.... more
