This was meant to be an indulgent ,kid free, weekend for my partner and I.
We had a four hour journey to the hotel but could not get in upon our arrival, due to the facility being locked up, we rang the number we'd been given to call should this be the case but recieved no answer.. we had to wait hour and a half before we were able to get into the hotel and access our room.
The waiting staff were unattentive and had little knowledge of the food on the menu. We were brought the wrong wine, which was dumped on our table un opened, several portions of our meals were literally inedible. (vinegarette salad dressing on pate is not a pleasant dish, nor are burnt mixed grills)
However the most disagreeable thing about our visit was the landlord, who was rude, curt and on the whole objectionable. Sadly he spoilt our weekend away with his attitude and manner, we will not return to the Lea Gate and I would strongly recommend others stay away until it is in new hands. more
