We stayed here for 2 nights around a do at RAF Cranwell. Loved the location - very central, minutes from the cathedral and lots of lovely independent restaurants, pubs and cafes. Very welcoming owners, great to have a 'help yourself' breakfast. Super comfortable room with fantastic views over Lincoln, bed probably not good if you have back problems but ideal... More

Comfortable, clean and conveniently placed at the doorstep of the historic cathedral and Steep Hill area as well within stumbling distance of the city’s best pub The Tap & Spile. Breakfast is a help yourself affair and i’d rather that than wait for someone to finish cooking for me as well as put up with the smell of a thousand... More

Stayed a couple of nights in a large room with private bathroom. Staff were very friendly and knowledgeable about the area. Breakfasts are help yourself continental with plenty on offer. Cathedral and castle are both on the door step. The area is hilly with steep pavements etc. but if a big lump like me can manage them you should have... More

We came here for an evening to see friends who live in the Bailgate area, so the Poplars seemed perfect. We enjoyed a really friendly greeting from the mighty Liam, who showed us around and shared some jovial conversation before we retired to our room. The room was lovely and clean, with a comfortable bed and an *awesome* shower. I... More

Stayed here for a gig at the Engine Shed. The owner showed us our room and had a good chat with us recommending pubs and bars to go to etc. Room was nice, bathroom in excellent condition and looked new. It's in a good location, not far from the Cathedral or the Strait. Would stay here again definitely. Thanks for... More

I really enjoyed staying at The Poplars for 3 nights; the owners and staff were all very friendly and helpful and made me feel at home. I liked that everything was pretty easy going. The room I stayed in was really nice, well equipt, decorated pleasantly with lovely pieces of furniture. I had great nights sleep every night, you could... More

We stayed at the Poplars early September 2014, we were a little tentative with reading some of the reviews but we were very pleasantly surprised, our room was very comfortable and the en suite was very modern and clean. You helped yourself to breakfast but that was no problem and there was plenty of everything. The best thing was it... More

Very friendly helpful staff, especially Liam who helped me navigate my car down the very steep drive! Room was really cute, charming vintage decor and very comfortable bed. Breakfast was continental, plenty if choice. Speciality teas in the room was a nice touch. Only small downside for me was the shower, water went everywhere except down the drain, floor was... More

We stayed 2 nights here... the indomitable Liam was looking after the place while the owners were away. Didn't think the decor was up to much.. some tlc needed. Eg window wouldn't stay open unless propped with something. Bed lumpy and duvets way too hot for summer. Dirty cups not taken away nor shared bathroom cleaned. Towels ancient. Breakfast is... More
