We stayed at the Poplars early September 2014, we were a little tentative with reading some of the reviews but we were very pleasantly surprised, our room was very comfortable and the en suite was very modern and clean. You helped yourself to breakfast but that was no problem and there was plenty of everything. The best thing was it... More

Very friendly helpful staff, especially Liam who helped me navigate my car down the very steep drive! Room was really cute, charming vintage decor and very comfortable bed. Breakfast was continental, plenty if choice. Speciality teas in the room was a nice touch. Only small downside for me was the shower, water went everywhere except down the drain, floor was... More

We stayed 2 nights here... the indomitable Liam was looking after the place while the owners were away. Didn't think the decor was up to much.. some tlc needed. Eg window wouldn't stay open unless propped with something. Bed lumpy and duvets way too hot for summer. Dirty cups not taken away nor shared bathroom cleaned. Towels ancient. Breakfast is... More

Hi Harrogate Gal ! Not sure what happened with bathroom normally deep cleaned once a day and checked throughout the day. As well as cereals and boiled eggs you can also find yoghurts a selection of bread for toasting, selection of fruit, jams, teas coffees ect ect. Re price book direct as through some agents we put a premium price... More

This is an older property run by a friendly small staff -no fuss/clean/nice en suite/good value. Breakfast is help yourself- fruit/cereals/toast/boiled eggs in a quirky dining room. Parking is on a steep drive but we didn't have a problem with it- and the location is so handy for the Cathedral. Yes I will certainly stay at the Poplars again but... More

We stayed to visit the university which was a short walk away and then discovered that The Poplars was a perfect place to explore Lincoln being close to everything. Lovely rooms and great staff, we briefly saw the owners but the staff had everything in hand and the place ran like clockwork. Great help yourself breakfast was especially useful when... More

Top marks for this place after having the worst night ever in another Lincoln hotel, Liam was so helpful and rooms where spotlessly clean. Breakfast was friendly again and well suited our needs. We will be back again next year! Bath rooms where modem in this older style house, may be a problem for older people due to steep hill... More

This place was recommended by a boutique as an emergency because of an accident. "Liam" was faultless, very friendly and always happy to help and chat, a very cheerful young man who will go out of his way to do his best for us. The room and en suite were impeccably clean and fresh. We loved the Fabulous en suite... More

This B&B was OK for the price but had a few disappointing features. The driveway is all but impossible to navigate into and would be a nightmare for any large car or when the place is full. The towels were very old and tired and the dining room furniture whilst quirky for some was heavy to move and the table... More

Three nights stay in the stifling heat of Lincoln City but a cool place to return to refresh and start again. I liked the helpful "look after your self" policy and could not ask for more. Sharing the shower room was not a problem at all. Great central spot. I liked the colourful crockery in the breakfast room and photos... More

I made a last minute booking at The Poplars through booking.com. I stayed for 2 nights with my 12 year old son. We had the twin room in the attic which was advertised as having a shared bathroom. I booked it without reading the reviews and to be honest I would probably not booked if I had read the reviews.... More
