My wife and I stayed for two nights on 28th & 29th June, 2009. The Railway Inn is set in superb countryside at Thorpe on the Hill, approximately five miles from Lincoln. We arrived early andf enjoyed Sunday Lunch - very large portions of excellent food with a choice of three meats (Beef- Lamb & Pork). The Licencee 'Rose' (who is ably assisted by her husband John and son Stephan) encouraged us to have slices of all the meats. The main course was just £5.95p each. A starter had been avaiable for £2.00p and we had a large sweet from a wide choice at just £2.00p each. For less than £10 per person one could eat like a king and enjoy fresh produce. Our room overlooked a field which belongs to The Inn. It was compact but very pleasant, being well equipped with a double bed, large modern wardrobe, large chest of drawers, two arm chairs, bedside cabinets, television, and a well equipped facility tray containing Tea, Coffee, Horlicks, Hot Chocolate, and two quality packs of biscuits... more
