I understand this particular Travelodge is due for refurbishment so my main issues of the tattiness of the furniture (apart from the bed) and poorly working shower/ bath may not apply once that has been done. That said cant fault the bed and had a good nights sleep.

I stayed at the Markfield Travel Lodge off junction 22 of the M1 two nights back. The usual Travel Lodge service - friendly and down to earth staff, clean rooms, very quiet, great value. All very basic but lots of hot water and 30 mins free Wifi. This particular Travel Lodge is located next to a derelict service area and... More

Unfortunately had to stay here a month or so before the place is due for refurbishment. Still, although the place is obviously tired, there is no excuse for there not being any soap in either of the dispensers. Sadly the services have been closed for about 2 years, so you need to travel to get food or supplies.

Stayed for one night visiting family in the area. Not luxurious by any stretch of the imagination, but clean and tidy. Comfortable bed and close to motorway. Staff friendly and will probably use again .

Rooms are a good size, clean and comfortable but very dated. It certainly needs to be brought into the 21st century. Orange walls and old very worn furniture were a huge turn off. On a more positive note, the beds were immaculate and very comfortable. Staff are friendly and helpful. If you are only staying for 1-2 nights go for... More

Room nice and warm, good free car park with around 80 spaces. Reception staff all nice and friendly and give a warm welcome as you arrive and check in. Bathroom nice and clean with fresh towles and plenty of hot water for showers to freshen up with. Needs to have Electric Vehicle Charging Point in the car park.

This was probably part of a motorway service area with a restaurant and filling station, not far out of Leicester. However, the area has now died - the restaurant has closed and the filling station does not benefit from useful signage on the M1 or other roads. The Travel Lodge is still there but looking a bit sad. The company... More

Although this is one of the older TL's and is a bit tired, it is excellent value for money, was clean and welcoming and did exactly what it said on the packet. Would use again - the nearest alternative was twice the price.

Not the most exciting hotel in the world, but does what it says on the tin. For £38 + £20 charge for the dog, we were very pleased to have a room for two adults and two children, given that the snow was coming down hard. Not much in the way of catering - there's a Spar in the BP... More

Without doubt, the hotel is very much in need of refurbishment. However, this is clearly stated on the Travelodge website, so guests are not going to be misled if they read the information. We stayed for just one night on a visit to Leicester to attend a funeral. The room was perfectly comfortable, particularly the excellent bed. It only cost... More
