The Mercure is situated on Granby Street in central Leicester. It is a large Victorian building with some character. The public spaces inside are open and light and the 19th Century carved woodwork is attractive. Much of the contemporary furniture throughout the hotel is rather tired. Renovation was clearly in progress in parts of the hotel, but was no inconvenience.... More

We came from Northern Ireland for our son's graduation last Friday, and received a very warm welcome. We were impressed with the car parking facilities, and the fact we had the whole of the next day parking too - all for £7. Very central location, just round the corner from our son's flat, but not noisy (or at least where... More

Stayed here for son's graduation ceremony at the Curve Theatre and this venue was ideal for this and also the shopping centre / centre of Leicester. The bathroom in our room was huge and had a lovely big bath but the room itself was a little on the small side but adequate. It was very warm the week we went... More

We came to stay at the Mecure for a graduation at university. We thought the outer decor of the hotel and lobby were beautiful on arrival and the central location was perfect for us. We checked in with ease and were very pleased that we were allowed into our room 2 hours prior to the stated check in time of... More

Thank you for posting your review. We... More

Wedding in Leicester. Stayed 2 nights. The hotel is very old and in need of a makeover. There is some internal painting going on but it just scratches the surface. Location is central and near the train station. The side road by the hotel where the car park entrance is has a strip club and other seedy/noisy places. There was... More

Thank you for posting a review. I am sorry that we did not exceed your expectations. You have noted when you stayed with us that we are currently investing into our beautiful Grade 11 listed Victorian building (which we cannot fit air con due to regulation guidelines). This will be fantastic for us and more importantly for you as a... More

I stayed at this mercure over this weekend for a special occasion, when first approaching Granby street by car the street the hotels located on is a bit scruffy, lots of cheap stores and chicken shops but when I spotted the hotel it's as grand as I thought it would be. The car park was easy to find and to... More

Stayed over at the Mercure in Groningen, Holland, recently and thought that the experince was absolutely brilliant, and I rated this on trip advisor 5/5, so I had no issues booking this hotel expecting the same high standards. Firstly it is based walking distance from the train station, and it was easy enough to find. It was based in a... More

We went to the Mercure for a conference and booked into the hotel to make life easy. Although the Foyer and Ground Floor was OK our room was small and dingy. We were originally given a twin room which was changed when I complained. It was strange as we booked one room for double occupancy and one for single. The... More

Thank you for your review. I am disappointed by your headline, we spent a considerable amount of time and money in upgrading our bedrooms last year. The design has to be in keeping with our beautiful Grade 11 listed Victorian hotel. All our rooms are of a different shape and size and character. This is give it some charm and... More

Stayed at this hotel with a tour group going to the British Grand Prix. The weekend was splendid except for this establishment, would never consider staying there again. Terrible service and mediocre food. The staff were pleasant enough but clueless, due I think to a lack of management. Our group (some 33 persons) were treated like 2nd class citizens, directed...
