My husband and I have just returned from the newstead guesthouse we spent 2 nights there as a 25th anniversary present from our children.Well what a lovely place we had a gigantic 4 poster bed and the room was lovely and bright the owner was very helpful when we arrived and gave us some ideas of places to go as... Lovely room with own parking spot (room 9). Bed was comfy. Room was not stuffy or hot considering the weather was very warm. We asked for black pudding with breakfast which they provided without a quibble. The only criticism would be the breakfast availability. It's only between 8.30 and 9.15. Therefore everyone seems to go at the same time ,... More

The location of this guest house is perfect...so close (within walking distance) of the attractions of Bowness and Windermere and so easily accesible to the central lakes. We arrived before the check-in time and our room was ready and we were shown to it. It was a good size room, yes, we went for the four poster, why not?! There... More

Our first visit to the Lake District, and glad we stayed at the Newstead. You can expect to be well greeted, which we have Ross, showing us the room and recommended a few must see places. Breakfast is excellence (compliments to Chef Ross) , which you have a few choices. I loved the poached eggs for healthy start of the... More

This was our first time in the lakes and this has proven to be an ideal location a short walk from both Windermere centre and Bowness. Rooms of satisfactory size and cleaned impeccably daily. Main road outside of bedroom window has an average traffic flow and we were comfortably able to sleep with the window open. Breakfasts are brilliant and... More

The Newstead Guest House has been decorated up to a high standard but this has meant there is lots of Do Not signs which I had thought had gone out many years ago from Guest Houses. Is well placed to either walk up the Hill to Windermere Town centre ( About 5mins) or Down hill to Bowness (About 15 mins).... More

Well. I love this place. My second visit to this guest house, my first being in 2009. I would live here if I could. Really friendly people who own the guest house, ( well I think they do) perfect to location just a 20 minute walk to the lake. Absolutely unreal. Me and my girlfriend loved this place the first... The welcome and the information we were given at check in was informative and very useful. The house is a fine example of victorian architecture with the internal decor appropriate to the era with wonderful photos depicting the history of the lakes.. The room and the house were immaculately kept. Each day the room was left crisp and clean. Even... More
